About You and This Role
In this role, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of tools, templates, and work processes enabling the cost-effective generation of compliant safety datasheets (SDSs) and labels for Dow products in the markets served. You will provide consulting on hazard communication matters, including but not limited to SDS EMEAI requirements, hazard classification, and identification of substances of concern in Dow products.
Additionally, you will lead the implementation of International Chemical Conventions: monitor the development of relevant regulations, consult, and provide training to stakeholders. Furthermore, you will manage work processes for licensing and annual reporting for the region.
It is key that you work autonomously within the boundaries of the work processes and are able to articulate complex matters with interdependencies with other teams.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement complex tools, templates, and work process documentation to comply with Hazard Communication and Product regulatory requirements and company standards. This includes Safety Data Sheets, notification to C&L regional inventories, international chemical conventions, etc.
Deliver expertise, develop complex technical training, and coach on HazCom and Product Regulatory work processes and tools (ERP Systems) across Dow functions and businesses.
Monitor the development/revision of relevant regulations/guidelines through trade association involvement and/or regular consultation of external sources of information (e.g., governmental websites). Proactively inform stakeholders of impacts accordingly.
Represent the function during internal and external audits and inspections.
Provide value-added regulatory interpretation and consulting services to internal stakeholders. Seek advice from law firms if needed.
Support complex regional advocacy activities and initiatives on Product Safety matters.
Represent Dow's position in trade associations. Coordinate common positions for Dow and support the development of responses on public consultation or industry position papers.
Lead global product safety expertise projects (leverages beyond the work group) including ERP system updates and upgrades.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Toxicology, or related fields.
3-5 years of experience in the field of product safety/hazard communication/product regulatory. This includes GHS classification requirements and International Chemical Conventions for the EMEAI region (license to sell and reporting management such as EU PIC, CWC, ODS, POP).
Your skills
Fluent in English and Arabic required; French is a plus.
Analytical, detail-oriented, problem-solving thinking.
Excellent communication skills.
Customer-oriented mindset.
Data mining proficiency is a plus.
Knowledge of SAP EH&S Module is a plus.
