Job Purpose:
The Senior Executive Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a key leader responsible for driving the organization's financial strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis. Reporting to the CFO, this role guides business development and supports senior leadership in achieving both operational and strategic financial goals across subsidiaries and projects.
The Executive Director shapes the financial direction of the company by providing comprehensive financial insights, translating business strategies into actionable plans, identifying performance drivers, and optimizing resource allocation. Leading the FP&A team, this role ensures effective financial control and supports decision-making to drive business growth and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership:
- Lead the FP&A function, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial strategy and long-term business goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and the CFO to develop and refine financial strategies that support sustainable growth and profitability.
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the executive team, providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Direct the company’s annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and financial targets.
- Lead the development of long-range financial forecasts, scenario modeling, and sensitivity analyses to anticipate future performance and identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial forecasts by working with department heads to assess financial performance and outlook.
3. Financial Performance Analysis:
- Oversee the creation of regular financial reports and dashboards to monitor company performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and variance analysis.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to business leaders to optimize decision-making and resource allocation.
- Conduct deep-dive financial analyses to support strategic initiatives, M&A activity, and capital investment decisions.
4. Cost Management & Efficiency:
- Partner with business units to drive cost management initiatives and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
- Lead financial planning related to cost control measures, capital expenditures, and working capital optimization.
- Develop frameworks for evaluating cost structures, profit margins, and return on investment (ROI) for key business initiatives.
5. Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management:
- Present financial reports, forecasts, and analysis to the executive leadership team, board of directors, and other key stakeholders.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure financial alignment with operational strategies and business initiatives.
- Communicate complex financial concepts clearly and concisely to both financial and non-financial audiences.
6. Process Improvements & Technology:
- Drive continuous improvement in FP&A processes, leveraging technology, automation, and best practices to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Lead the implementation and optimization of FP&A systems and tools, including forecasting models and business intelligence software.
- Stay current with financial planning technology and trends, ensuring the FP&A function remains innovative and future-focused.
7. Talent Development & Leadership:
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing FP&A team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence.
- Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and career development plans for FP&A staff.
- Promote a data-driven mindset within the team and across the organization.
