Tanzania with Operational travel throughout the Africa region
Contact and Cooperation:
Directly Partners: Country Finance Heads and Procurement Teams
In Country – Is a member of the Finance Leadership Team
Cooperation – Other members of the Finance Teams, particularly Country Finance Heads, procurement team and the commercial team.
External: Respective country tax authorities, Tax advisors, Customers/Clients, Suppliers, etc
Role Objectives
Reporting to the Finance Director, Africa and Partnering with Country Finance Heads and Procurement Teams, the role objective is :-
- To ensure that a sound tax strategy, supported by fit-for-purpose policies and effective operating framework is in place and are deployed throughout the Africa region to support GW Africa tax planning and management process.
The position will work closely with other Finance colleagues in the organization as well as the commercial and operational teams in order to contribute towards and support the delivery of business financial objectives.
Regional Tax Manager is responsible for the following:
Tax Management
- Tax Strategy and Planning: Is the owner of the GW Africa tax policies.
- Tax cost optimisation: Partner the business to formulate, adopt and execute policies and operating processes that will optimise the effective tax rate. Responsible for overall Tax operations in the business.
- Compliance: Support the countries to comply fully with relevant prevailing Tax Legislation throughout the Africa region, and through this, mitigate both the reputational and financial risk of non-compliance. Support the GW to fully comply with laid down internal Tax Policies.
Accountability:
The Regional Tax Manager is accountable to the Finance Director- Africa
Technical Skills
- A degree in Business, Commerce, Statistics or a relevant field
- Accounting professional qualification - CPA (K), ACCA or equivalent.
- Knowledge of business/performance management and/or systems/processes
- Minimum 6 years of experience in any of the “Big Four” with specific focus on Tax of which three are in middle level management
- Ability to think strategically and work independently
- Good commercial awareness
- Strong Business Acumen
- A highly analytical mind set
- Digitally Savvy, with extensive knowledge of assistive applications
