Responsibilities JOB PURPOSE To ensure all manufactured products meet specified PI standards and non-conforming materials and RM materials are not released, SSFL lab system and GQS system meet PI standards and achieve audit targets. POSITION IN ORGANISATION Direct Manager Quality supervisor Quality Assurance Manager Peers Production line leader Microbiologist Store Keeper Subordinates Lab clerk PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES To analyse daily finished products, incoming raw and packaging materials and ensure that only conforming products and raw materials are released and non-conforming ones are isolated and held for further action by following SSFL procedures. To communicate timely the results of acceptance and rejections of Raw materials to concerned functions, issue reports and action the decision through SAP. To take immediate action in case of any noncompliance noticed during analysis by initiating relevant Hold/ Release exercise. To coordinate corrective action with the concerned team leaders if required. To co-ordinate with finished products stores if holding or recalling of the product becomes necessary to be followed by inspection/ analysis of the held product To carry out monthly analysis of stored finished products / Raw materials and prepare the quality status report, share the results with plant team. To carry out monthly in market evaluation of finished products and share the results with production and sales team. To maintain lab equipment’s in good working and tidy condition while meeting safety requirements To maintain calibration status of all instruments To meet the requirements of IPS lab and quality systems. To support developmental activities/ projects relevant to the function To train colleagues and disseminate the knowledge gained through internal and external trainings To implement, sustain and participate in the continual improvement of the OH&S Management System (MS) at area of responsibility in accordance to the legislations, PepsiCo GEHSMS and relevant EHS standards, ensuring proper controls for all hazards and risks associated with all activities/areas are in place and OH&S targets are achieved. KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES: Frito-Lay Challenge Results. GQS & Lab system audit results. Minimum on line rejection. Product and Packaging Weak link scores. DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY Authority to accept conforming materials. Authority to hold non-conforming materials and products and engage with relevant functions. Manage the shift activities independently. Qualifications EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED In addition to a bachelor science degree (preferably in chemistry / Food Science) Quality chemist must possess following competences: Minimum of 3 years relevant experience as chemist in a food manufacturing plant with profound knowledge of latest lab instruments such as FTIR, NMR and etc. 3 years’ experience in maintaining quality systems like ISO or equivalent. Good command over written and spoken English plus ability to effectively communicate cross functionally. Good computer skill with excellent knowledge of MS words, Excel and Power point plus ability to analyse data. Ability and inclination to be a team player.
