Professional, EHR Patient Administration/HIM (Must have InterSystems / TrakCare experience)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Professional in Patient Administration (PAS) and Health Information Management (HIM) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare administration and HIM practices, with a focus on maintaining accurate and confidential patient records. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to upholding regulatory compliance and privacy standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives to optimize PAS & HIM information systems, collaborating with PAS & HIM staff and interdisciplinary teams to align system functionalities with PAS & HIM workflows and best practices.
• Analyze and understand PAS & HIM clinical workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement, customization, and alignment with PAS & HIM information system capabilities.
• Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for PAS & HIM staff, including physicians, nurses, and administrative personnel, ensuring proficient and efficient use of PAS & HIM information systems.
• Work closely with PAS & HIM staff and information system administrators to customize and configure PAS & HIM information systems based on PAS & HIM care needs, optimizing processes, and enhancing system capabilities.
• Bridge the gap between PAS & HIM practices and informatics, leveraging medical knowledge to facilitate seamless integration of informatics principles into PAS & HIM care processes.
• Keep abreast of PAS & HIM information system updates, new features, and enhancements. Lead training sessions for PAS & HIM staff to ensure awareness and proficiency with system changes.
• Provide frontline support for PAS & HIM staff, addressing system-related issues, troubleshooting problems, and collaborating with IT teams for effective resolution.
• Collaborate with quality improvement teams to implement and assess the impact of PAS & HIM information system optimizations on patient care outcomes.
• Work closely with PAS & HIM leaders, IT teams, and other stakeholders to align PAS & HIM information system initiatives with organizational goals.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and health information coding systems (ICD, CPT).
• In-depth knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and healthcare documentation standards.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex medical information and coding guidelines accurately.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity of patient health information. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification preferred.
• 5 years of experience in healthcare administration, with a focus on health information management and medical records
