Duties And Responsibilities
-Provide personalized coordinated care, support and treatment for patients and families.
- Treat people with dignity, compassion, and respect.
- Involve patients, families and caregivers by providing them with education and resources for offering optimal support to promote recovery.
- Acts as clinical resource to staff.
- Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology and presentation of pain conditions and pain management
- Performs history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant and appropriate for age, gender and clinical problem.
- Utilizes critical thinking to synthesize and analyze collected data.
- Develops, implements and evaluates the plan of care as needed (under supervision)
- Manages general medical and surgical conditions based on knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities including PCAs, Epidurals and nerve blocks.
- Counsels and educates patients and families.
- Maintains accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Participates in daily rounds and collaborates with the attending or consulting team in order to adjust plans of care.
- Coordinates the Pain Services and provides consultation to nursing, pharmacy, medical staff, and others to develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive plan of care, including a discharge plan, for patient with complex pain problems to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Facilitates consistent and coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team.
- Incorporates the patient and family in care planning and treatment across settings.
- Serves as an advocate for patients and families in navigating the health care system.
- Contributes to the design and conduct of pain management evidence-based practice and quality improvement activities related to the care of patients and their families.
- Program and refill infusion pumps; manipulate, remove, and give epidural bolus. Able to manipulate, remove and give nerve catheter bolus and removing of the catheter
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with physicians and other health professionals
- Works effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
- Communicates effectively with patients and families, incorporating gender, age, culture, race, religion, disabilities and sexual orientation.
- Follows ethical principles regarding patient confidentiality, informed consent and unanticipated adverse outcomes.

- Participates in education of students and other health care professionals.

- Ensures interdisciplinary awareness of The Joint Commission’s pain assessment and management standards to facilitate Al Mossa Specialist Hospital’s ongoing compliance with these requirements.
- Considers cost effectiveness and risk/benefit analysis when making decisions about patient care.
- Uses evidenced-based medicine to systematically analyze and improve patient care practices in terms of patient management.
- Participates in quality performance activities (Ex: PI projects…).
- Participates in development, evaluates and implements standards of care within area of specialization (policies, protocols, etc).
QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) who hold a Registered Nurse (RN) license
