Role Summary:
A chartering manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the use of vessels and other transportation assets for a NEOM DSV JV. You will collaborate with vendors, internal & external stake holders, importers, exporters and with governmental/ministry officials to ensure goods are planned and transported in line with country customs and NEOM regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Vessel Utilization: Ensure the optimal use of vessels or other assets to meet the company's transportation needs.
• Charter Negotiations: Negotiate charter agreements with service providers, including terms, rates, and conditions.
• Market Analysis: Monitor and analyse market trends, freight rates, and vessel availability to make informed decisions.
• Contract Management: Manage contracts and ensure compliance with all terms and conditions.
• Operational Coordination: Coordinate with operations, logistics, and other departments to ensure smooth execution of charter agreements.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with charters, including legal, financial, and operational risks.
• Customer Relations: Maintain and develop relationships with clients, owners, and other stakeholders.
• Budgeting and Reporting: Prepare budgets and financial reports related to chartering activities.
• Review effectiveness of HSE & Risk Management Plans, ensure they remain visible, and are being adhered to.
• Review incident or crisis management plans to mitigate gaps.
• Ensure all owned, chartered or rented equipment meets or exceeds both regulatory and NEOM Standards.
• Ensure that all employed (Direct & Indirect), sub-contracted or agency personnel adhere to and uphold all KSA Regulatory and NEOM Standards always including behaviour in a safe and ethical manner.
• Ensure that operations work within the KSA Regulatory and NEOM Framework.
• Manage assets and available business in such a way as to minimize operational expenses while maximizing equipment utilization and driving profitability.
Educational Qualifications & Certifications:
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• In-depth knowledge of the shipping industry, Spot market, COA, and Operations.
• Analytical skills and the ability to interpret market data.
• Experience in contract management and legal aspects of chartering.
• Critical thinking skills and the ability to manage complex situations.
• Familiarity with logistics and supply chain management.
