Who Are We? Thndr was founded with a dream to democratize investing. We wanted to give anyone with a smartphone the ability to grow and preserve their wealth. What access and knowledge only few had, we wanted to extend to many. This, we believe, can only be achieved by increasing (and deepening) participation in local capital markets.
History has shown that investing is the single greatest way to build long term wealth. However, there are a lot of barriers that prevent every day Saudi individuals from meaningfully participating in the stock market. The most significant of which is low financial literacy – personal finance and investing are rarely taught at home or school.
The journey so far
Thndr launched in Egypt in 2020 and in less than four years, we’ve introduced 296K first-time investors to the Egyptian Stock Exchange. That’s 66% of all investors on the EGX. Thndr’s app is sleek and easy to use, but that alone doesn’t explain why users felt confident to start their investing journey with us. We attribute much of that result to our commitment to educational content, be it easy-to-understand articles or accessible videos on social media.
Our KSA Vision
We’re coming to Saudi with the same mindset. Similar to Egypt, Saudi society struggles with low rates of financial literacy. This problem has been identified by the Saudi Ministry of Finance and is best quantified by the household savings rate, which currently stands at 1.6% of total household income. Saudi’s Vision 2030 National Savings and Financial Literacy Strategy has set a target of increasing this to 10% by 2030. Through code and content – our bread and butter – we will work diligently to help achieve this goal.

On our short journey we’ve validated that there is a need for our solution, as illustrated by these key figures in Egypt:

  • 65% of users live outside Cairo, Giza and Alex
  • Grew from 8 to 250 employees in 4 years across Egypt and UAE
  • Became Egypt’s largest retail broker: $8.8bn in annualized traded value
  • Raised $20M Series A from Beco Capital, Prosus Ventures, Tiger Global ++
  • Built a sustainable business with sound unit economics and an accelerating user acquisition rate: acquired 31K users in Q1’23 vs 73K in Q1’24 (235% growth)
Role in A Nutshell As the Marketing Manager, you will own, lead, and manage all marketing activities within Thndr KSA, working within the overall brand direction of Thndr, but also finding ways to effectively localize the brand. You will play a crucial role in developing and executing the marketing strategies to drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, and revenue growth.
You will be directly reporting to our Saudi GM and collaborating closely with the Head of Brand & Head of Content in Egypt. If you want to see what it’s like for a consumer tech company to go from zero to one in the Saudi market, this experience will be a masterclass inshallah. And since the team is still small, your work will be highly cross functional

What You'll Do
  • Own and Refine the KSA Marketing Strategy: we’re currently operating with the best plan we have without you. Upon joining, you would gradually own more responsibility for this function. The goal is to implement a comprehensive marketing strategy, pre and post launch.
  • Localize Thndr: You’ll be our brand’s local guide, helping us tailor it to perfectly resonate with our Saudi audience. You’ll ensure our message speaks their language and captures their interest, all while maintaining our educational themes and reinforcing our commitment to solving the financial literacy problem in Saudi.
  • Build In-House Content Capabilities: Content (media) and Product (code) are king at Thndr. You’ll be in charge of building our in-house content team and trusted network of agencies and freelancers. You’ll excel at this role if you have an eye for detail and a passion for storytelling.
  • Digital Marketing: Take charge of our digital marketing game (you will have significant support from our Team in Egypt). Whether it's website development, SEO/SEM, email campaigns, or other social media wizardry, you will help the team make and implement the right decisions. You should be leveraging the latest digital trends and make sure our content is relevant and our audience is engaged.
  • Campaign Planning and Execution: From brainstorming to execution, you’ll orchestrate marketing campaigns that hit all the right notes, making sure Thndr is culturally relevant in Saudi.
  • Market Research and Analysis: Monitor the investment market and  competitor analysis to identify customer needs, market trends, and opportunities. Use data-driven insights to refine marketing strategies and optimize campaign performance.
  • More Than Marketing: You will work your magic across departments, aligning marketing efforts with our business objectives.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Work your magic across departments, aligning marketing efforts with our business goals. You’ll build strong relationships with product development, operations, and key stakeholders, including our external partners and vendors.
  • Compliance: You will need to understand the regulatory limitations for a CMA-Licensed FinTech company, and the limitations for a company still in the application stage. There’s a lot we cannot say, and yet you need to work with our compliance expert (the best in Saudi) to figure out ways for us to execute our marketing plans in a compliant way.
