2. OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
Working at the rock face, cutting, blasting, or otherwise working and removing ore/minerals; leading activities with strict adherence to safety and operational regulations, rules and procedures 3. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: Qualification:

* Strictly adhere and ensure adherence to safety regulations, rules, processes and procedures * Assist foreman with their duties, e.g. acting, delegation (where and when required) * Operate various mining machines and equipment (set up, start, stop and operate controls to drive, regulate, navigate or stabilise), including but not limited to the following: - a variety of drills such as rotary, churn, and pneumatic - machines to crush, grind, or polish materials - machinery to install roof support bolts in underground mine - loading machinery - self-propelled mining machines that rip metal and non-metal ores, rock, stone, or sand from the mine face - hydraulic safety bars - trucks, tractors or other vehicles * Load ore onto conveyors or into shuttle cars * Clean hoppers, and clean spillage from tracks, walks, driveways, and conveyor decking * Facilitate the use of explosives * Lay track and reset supports and blocking * Hang ventilation tubing and ventilation curtains to ensure that the mining face area is kept properly ventilated * Conduct methane gas checks to ensure breathing quality of air * Check the stability of roof and rib support systems before mining face areas * Drive machines into position at working faces * Reposition machines to make additional holes or cuts * Determine locations, boundaries, and depths of holes or channels to be cut * Monitor (observe and listen) operation activities, check gauges and listen to equipment to assess conditions, detect binding or stoppage, malfunctions and to determine the need to adjust or alter equipment * Perform routine maintenance, basic repairs and upgrade work on machines and equipment, such as replacing parts, adjustments, and lubricating machinery * Install casings to prevent cave-ins * Scrape or wash conveyors, using belt scrapers or belt washers, to minimize dust production * Framing * Drill or bore holes in rock for bolting, blasting, grouting, anchoring, or building foundations * Perform and ensure proper housekeeping
