Job Overview:The Lead Material Control Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing all material control activities on-site to ensure that all materials required for the project are available, tracked, and delivered in a timely and efficient manner. This role involves coordinating the movement of materials, ensuring proper inventory levels, and supervising a team responsible for the material logistics and control processes.
Key Responsibilities:Material Planning & Coordination:
- Collaborate with the project management team to forecast material requirements based on project timelines and phases.
- Develop and manage the materials control plan for the site.
- Ensure timely ordering, delivery, and storage of materials in compliance with project needs.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee the control, tracking, and recording of all materials received and dispatched.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using material management systems (e.g., ERP software).
- Conduct regular stock audits to ensure accuracy and reduce discrepancies.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of material controllers, warehouse personnel, and logistics staff.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide support for the team in their daily activities.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and best practices in handling materials.
Material Distribution:
- Coordinate the logistics of material deliveries to different areas of the site as needed.
- Ensure materials are properly stored, labeled, and protected to prevent damage or loss.
- Ensure efficient and timely allocation of materials based on project requirements.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Ensure proper documentation of material receipts, inventory counts, and dispatches.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on material status, usage trends, and forecasts.
- Report any material shortages, delays, or issues that may impact the project schedule.
Vendor & Supplier Coordination:
- Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Track and manage material procurement, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines.
- Resolve any discrepancies between the materials delivered and the materials ordered.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all material handling and storage practices comply with Worley safety policies, industry standards, and local regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety among the material control team and other site personnel.
- Identify and address any potential risks or hazards related to material handling and storage.
Qualifications:Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field (Preferred).
Experience:
- Experience in material control or logistics in a supervisory or lead role.
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, or a similar site-based environment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of material management systems.
- Proven experience with inventory control and material distribution.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle material-related issues on the fly.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Certifications:
- Certifications in Supply Chain Management or Inventory Management (e.g., APICS, Six Sigma) are a plus.
