ROLE OVERVIEW
The Environmental Assessment Lead is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of NEOM’s Environmental Assessment and Approval function at a corporate level.
REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY
- Experience in developing environmental assessment procedures and standards.
- Experience in executing tasks in compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Manage and oversee environmental assessment and permitting programs across multiple developers.
- Prepare clear, detailed and comprehensive approval documentation.
- Provide quality assurance and technical oversight for multiple Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) processes and environmental permit applications for both construction and operational phases at the project level.
- Review and assess technical environmental approval reports, management plans, management of change requests and other associated assessment documentation submitted by external environmental consultants, in line with NEOM policy and planning objectives.
- Provide continued alignment of the NEOM’s environmental planning and approval systems with International Finance Corporation Environmental and Social performance standards and international good practices.
- Capability to identify inefficiencies and areas of improvement in existing processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- High attention to details to ensure the processes are optimized.
- Ability to build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
The Environmental Assessment Lead responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Stakeholder Management
- Manage the procurement programs run by environmental consultants that support the assessment and permitting schedule.
- Engage with divisions and departments to facilitate meeting NEOM’s commitments and goals, related to environmental performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders through regular communication and meetings.
- Act as a point of contact for stakeholders, addressing their concerns and providing updates on relevant activities.
- Manage the dissemination of information, ensuring timely and accurate communication
Project Management
- Provide regular reports to senior management on stakeholder engagement status, risks, and opportunities.
- Use feedback and data to refine and improve stakeholder management strategies.
- Coordinate stakeholder involvement in projects, ensuring their feedback is integrated into planning and decision-making processes.
- Track and monitor stakeholder engagement activities and their impact on project outcomes.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 5+ years’ experience across the fields of environmental impact assessment, planning and permitting.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, legislation and guidance of the Region as well and international standards, i.e. IFC PS.
- Strong team building and management.
- Experience in Project Management
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong facilitation and organization skills.
- Preferably the ability to conduct fieldwork if required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient fluency in English is essential.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering or similar.
- Other qualifications in Environmental Sciences or Environmental Engineering.
