Main Duties & Responsibilities:


To understand and strictly adhere to the Rules & Regulations established in the Employees Handbook and the Hotel’s policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety. To maintain good rapport and working relationship with staff in all departments. To attend and contribute to all staff meetings Departmental and Hotel Training as scheduled and other related activities. To undertake any reasonable tasks and secondary duties as assigned by Assistant Director of Engineering / Assistant Engineering Manager. To respond to any changes in the Engineering department function as dictated by the hotel. To handle guest and employee inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner and report guest complaints or problems to supervisors if no immediate solution can be found and assure follow up with guests. To handle and treat all matters of a confidential nature, oral or written with tact and discretion. In accordance with the situation or if instructed by the Entity’s General Manager as agreed with the Employee, perform functions not stipulated in his job description in line with the Internal Work Rules and effective local labor legislation. To fulfil and act on oral and/or written assignments, tasks, instructions and orders of the immediate supervisor, as well as other competent officials and authorized representatives of the Company, if necessitated by business requirements and, therefore, deemed to be production assignments. To be available to be cross trained in other areas of the hotel. Implement the 10/5 Rule at all times during work hours. The ability to follow proper payroll and uniform procedures. Daily repair and maintenance together with any other modification could be required for kitchen equipment. Checking the gas line feeding to the equipment. Checking the gas detection panels, fire suppression system and gas valves. Attending the daily morning and afternoon briefings. Receiving the daily maintenance orders. Executing all maintenance points – recording the time used and material on the order and return back to engineering in the same day. Mechanical, electrical, lighting and plumbing of kitchen will be your responsibility. Any signs of defects in kitchen equipment’s to be reported immediately to the Assistant Engineering Manager or Assistant Director of Engineering. Any other job could be requested by the Assistant Engineering Manager or Assistant Director of Engineering in other systems you have to execute it. Your tools box must be always ready in your hand. Any urgent spare parts or materials should be ordered and followed-up by you. You will be in-charge of the maintenance program of the electrical outlets. Responsible for carrying out work as planned preventive maintenance schedule as directed by the Assistant Engineering Manager or Assistant Director of Engineering. Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all kitchen apparatus, appliances and equipment. Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all association pipe work for all services. Responsible for assisting the Assistant Engineering Manager as may be necessary. Responsible for keeping an accurate log of all work carried out and materials used. Responsible for checking the Engineering orders log book for working to clear outstanding orders starting with items marked urgent. Responsible for using the appropriate safety clothing/equipment and for following all maintenance instructions as laid down by the Assistant Engineering Manager. Responsible for assisting other personnel in emergencies and for carrying out other engineering duties that may be required by the management and according to the needs of the department. Responsible for keeping working area tidy and in good order. Responsible for undergoing any training deemed necessary by department. Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions; install, replace or repair damaged equipment; calibrate thermostatic controls. Adjust and maintain internal electrical and electronic control systems; clean heaters and blowers and check burners. Assemble and install metal duct work. Maintain records and write reports. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner. Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required. Inspect and maintain fire sprinkler systems. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. The ability to assist in providing electrical repair and maintenance to motors, starters, breakers and associated equipment throughout the entire building. The ability to assist in socket repair and replacement. The ability to assist in installing electrical wiring for renovations, electrical outlet additions, motors and associated equipment. The ability to assist in providing electrical set-ups for exhibits and conventions including maintaining electrical equipment for exhibits. The ability to assist in providing preventive maintenance of all electrical/mechanical/plumbing equipment and updating of appropriate logs. The ability to clean all stations in Engineering and maintain a neat and organized department. The ability to respond to all guest complaints regarding the maintenance of their room or public area in a timely manner.
