INTERNSHIP POSITION - T&I Scientific Computing Bergen op Zoom, The Netherlands
DEPARTMENT SABIC Technology and Innovation – Global Analytical Sciences
JOB PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We offer an exciting internship project within the department of Global Analytical Sciences. You will have the opportunity to contribute towards deployment of a new scientific computing platform enabling scientists to understand and develop new materials. You will work independently using daily interactions with your global colleagues to develop a user interface running on SABIC T&Is computing resources.
This internship includes tasks such as:
Contribute to the development of a modeling tool to support the characterization and development of new materials Design and develop a web app to enable users to perform complex simulations Scale up and parallelize the simulations using high performance computing (HPC). Document work in a clear and concise manner and provide updates on progress on a regular basis.
REQUIREMENTS
Current undergraduate or graduate student in Computer science and engineering or a closely related discipline with demonstrated proficiency in programming Proficient in Python with good knowledge of scientific libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, etc… on a Linux operating system. Experience working with Linux job scheduling and parallel processing a plus. Experience in scaling applications with distributed compute frameworks such as Ray Experience in developing dashboard or web apps for data based application (plotly, dash, shiny, streamlit, observable) Willing to take initiatives, propose solutions and implement them Experience in modeling and simulation of engineering or scientific problems would be a plus Fluency in English both written and verbal Student(s) must be registered at a University Institution and/or Hogeschool

Start date: as soon as possible (date can be discussed) for a duration of 6 months to one year. Duration can be adjusted depending on the availability of the intern.
