Head CSSD

Job Purpose / Objective 

Supervise, monitor and ensure that all types of sterilization services are appropriately performed in compliance with the quality patient standards and perform tasks with advanced professional and technical skills and ensures a flexible approach to meet the demands of HMG and its requirements in the CSSD department.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities  

• Oversee the proper operation of all processing equipment at all times by continued monitoring and competent CSSD staff.
• Ensure the formulation / review / revision of related policies and procedures of the Department periodically.
• Evaluate and recommend methods, techniques and services for improving CSSD by being updated about new developments in the areas of asepsis, sterilization and infection control through literature reviews, workshops seminars and conferences.
• Ensure proper procurement / obtaining of and standardization of materials, supplies and equipment required for the CSSD operation.
• Implement, evaluate and recommend related products and system to achieve CSSD objectives.
• Monitor an efficient inventory management of all reusable invasive medical devices and supplies, in collaboration with the Infection Control.
• Complete, document, and present reports all related results of biological monitoring tests of the equipment in the Department, ensures that any variation in the results is reported and managed in a timely manner
• Provide an accurate monthly feedback report to the Director of Nursing and the Nurse Manager.
• Ensure proper inspection of instruments and trays prior to loading autoclaves for sterilization, assists subordinates in their designed areas as necessary.
• Monitor PPM reports from Biomed for all equipment in the CSSD.
• Ensure that all the machines/equipment are maintained and used as per manufacturer’s instructions and is solely used for the purpose it is intended.
• Comply with the standards set by the KSA and HMG and perform the duties necessary to sustain the standards in the department.
• Report any occurrences not consistent with the operation of the Hospital or standard service and situations which may pose risks for patients, employees or visitors.
• Perform periodical staff evaluation for all CSSD staff and recommend action plan for performance improvement as required.
• Support the implementation of and sustained compliance on Infection Control practices in the Department.
• Responsible for continued education and maintained quality standards in all tasks assigned for each CSSD staff.
• Implement and support HMG policy on attendance and punctuality, speaking acceptable language at all times, dress code, sick leave, confidentiality, using proper chain of command and promotes good working relationships with co-workers within the Department and among all areas of HMG
• Ensure sufficient resources and staffing are available for the delivery of safe and quality service (e.g., space, equipment, supplies, staffing, and other resources) necessary to optimize patient care.
• Ensure staff members participate in quality improvement and patient safety activities and receive training on quality assessment and improvement.
• Comply with the standards and perform duties necessary to support, achieve and maintain national and international accreditation.
• Review performance of staff and perform counselling on unsatisfactory performance. In addition, discuss personnel and administrative issues and address and solve problems among staff.
• Participate in, and lead person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
• Perform other applicable task and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Education/ Professional Qualification

Diploma holder, preferably Bachelor’s degree in Sterilization 

Experience

Minimum of 6 years working experience in same specialty

Professional Licensing / Certification / Training

Saudi Council & Licensed from Country of Origin
