We are seeking an experienced General Manager (GM) in the catering industry oversees all aspects of the catering operation, ensuring high-quality service, smooth logistics, and a profitable business. The GM will manage daily operations, supervise staff, coordinate with clients, and oversee the execution of events to meet customer expectations while maintaining business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
Lead and manage the catering team, including chefs, servers, coordinators, and support staff.
Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork, professional
development, and high morale.
Develop and implement effective training programs for new and existing staff members.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff.
Operations Management:
Oversee all operational activities of the catering service, including preparation, presentation, and
delivery.
Ensure that catering services meet or exceed company standards for food quality, presentation, and customer service.
Develop schedules for staff and ensure adequate staffing levels to meet event requirements.
Manage the inventory and ensure the proper stock of food, beverages, equipment, and supplies.
Oversee the coordination of logistics for on-site events, including transportation, setup, and
breakdown.
Customer Relations & Event Coordination:
Act as the primary point of contact for clients and coordinate all aspects of event planning and
execution.
Work with clients to design and tailor catering menus according to their needs, preferences, and
budget.
Ensure client satisfaction by promptly addressing any concerns or issues before, during, and after
events.
Attend client meetings and ensure clear communication to define event objectives, preferences, and timelines.
Marketing & Business Development:
Collaborate with marketing teams to promote catering services, develop promotional offers, and
generate new business leads.
Attend networking events, trade shows, and industry gatherings to build relationships with potential clients and partners.
Continuously evaluate market trends and competitor offerings to stay competitive and enhance the company’s catering services.
Develop strategies to attract new clients and expand catering opportunities in the local or regional market.
Reporting & Administrative Duties:
Prepare reports on sales, budgets, customer feedback, and event performance for senior management.
Handle contracts, invoices, and billing procedures for clients.
Maintain accurate records of catering services, client agreements, and financial transactions.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the catering industry, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Strong knowledge of catering operations, event planning, and food service logistics.
Proven leadership, team-building, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience with financial management, budgeting, and cost control.
Strong customer service and client relationship management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and solve problems effectively.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Knowledge of health and safety standards in the food service industry.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and catering management software.
