The Fitness & Recreation Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing dynamic movement, fitness, aquatic, and adventure-based programs at Miraval The Red Sea. This role will lead operations at the Body Mindfulness Centre, Aquatic Centre, and Challenge Course, integrating physical wellness, mindful movement, and holistic recreation into the guest experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong fitness and wellness background, experience in high-performance training and mindful movement, and a passion for leading guests through transformational, active experiences. This role ensures compliance with Saudi Arabia’s hospitality and wellness industry standards while aligning with Miraval’s philosophy of balance, mindfulness, and self-discovery.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development & Guest Engagement
- Oversee the fitness, aquatic, and adventure programs, ensuring a balance of mindful movement, strength training, and recreation.
- Lead and develop group classes and private training sessions in functional fitness, yoga, aquatic therapy, and adventure-based fitness.
- Design and implement unique fitness and recreation experiences that incorporate mindfulness, stress reduction, and holistic wellness.
- Develop and manage adventure-based programs at the Challenge Course, including climbing, obstacle courses, and team-building experiences.
- Ensure guest safety and engagement by conducting fitness assessments, providing expert guidance, and tailoring activities to individual fitness levels.
- Promote inclusive and accessible fitness experiences that accommodate diverse guest needs and abilities.
- Monitor guest feedback and continuously improve program offerings to exceed guest expectations, focusing on increasing positive guest feedback and meeting KPIs for satisfaction surveys.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Body Mindfulness Centre, Aquatic Centre, and Challenge Course.
- Ensure all fitness and recreation facilities and equipment are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with local and international health standards.
- Adhere to Saudi Arabia’s hospitality and wellness regulations while maintaining industry best practices.
- Work closely with the well-being team to integrate fitness and recreation into holistic wellness programs.
- Develop and oversee risk management and emergency response procedures for all recreational activities.
- Ensure that all equipment and spa amenities are organized and in place, ready for each scheduled treatment or session.
- Monitor cleanliness standards across these wellness spaces, ensuring they meet Miraval’s high standards for hygiene and guest comfort.
- Report any operational issues, maintenance needs, or cleanliness concerns immediately to the concerned department and seek assistance to resolve the issue in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all wellness spaces are kept in optimal condition to provide a relaxing and hygienic environment for guests.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and lead a team of fitness professionals, personal trainers, lifeguards, and adventure instructors.
- Provide ongoing professional development, mentorship, and leadership to the team.
- Foster a team-centered environment that enhances the delivery of well-being experiences.
- Foster a culture of enthusiasm, motivation, and excellence among staff and guests.
- Manage and track staff productivity and performance, conducting regular performance reviews to ensure staff is meeting the department’s goals and Miraval’s standards.
- Collaborate with other resort departments to ensure seamless guest experiences and interdisciplinary programming.
Strategic Growth & Innovation
·Stay ahead of emerging trends in fitness, aquatics, and adventure recreation to continually innovate programming.
·Develop partnerships with wellness experts, fitness professionals, and adventure-based facilitators to enhance Miraval’s offerings.
·Assist in marketing and promotional efforts by creating engaging content, hosting workshops, and representing Miraval at industry events.
·Align all fitness and recreation initiatives with Miraval’s vision of mindful movement, transformation, and holistic well-being.
·Drive revenue growth and ensure efficient management of the area and budget, consistently maximizing revenue performance.
·Collaborate with the Revenue team to optimize resource utilization and increase revenue through guest bookings and program offerings.
·Oversee and ensure seamless operation of updating program schedules, addressing scheduling issues, and maintaining operational flow.
·Collaborate with third-party companies to provide additional talent and expertise, supporting the growth and development of the programs.
·Maintain a mindful approach to upselling, ensuring that suggestions align with the guests’ wellness journey and experience at Miraval.
