Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Field Site Engineer – Mechanical (Non-Western) to manage and oversee mechanical systems during the construction, installation, testing, and commissioning phases of large power projects and synchronous condenser projects. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, approved by the Saudi Council of Engineers, and will have at least eight (8) years of relevant experience in large-scale power and mechanical systems. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and effective communication skills.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Site Supervision & Coordination:


    • Oversee and supervise the mechanical construction and installation activities at the project site, ensuring compliance with design specifications and project schedules.
    • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure the timely and quality completion of mechanical systems.
    • Perform regular site inspections to monitor construction activities and resolve any issues related to mechanical installations.
  2. Testing & Commissioning:


    • Take responsibility for supervising mechanical systems testing and commissioning after the completion of construction and installation.
    • Develop and review test plans, procedures, and schedules for the mechanical systems, ensuring that they meet operational and performance standards.
    • Oversee the commissioning process, ensuring mechanical systems are tested for efficiency, safety, and functionality.
    • Work closely with the commissioning team to identify and resolve any mechanical system deficiencies or performance issues.
  3. Documentation & Reporting:


    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including installation records, test reports, inspection records, and commissioning reports.
    • Prepare and submit progress reports, detailing the status of mechanical systems, project milestones, and any concerns or challenges encountered.
    • Ensure that all changes, modifications, and deviations from the original designs are well-documented and communicated effectively.
  4. Technical Support & Troubleshooting:


    • Provide expert technical support to resolve any mechanical issues that arise during the installation, testing, or commissioning phases.
    • Analyze mechanical systems and troubleshoot problems, recommending solutions to ensure the successful completion of the project.
    • Liaise with other engineers and departments to address any interdisciplinary technical challenges.
  5. Team Collaboration & Leadership:


    • Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, providing guidance, training, and technical direction as needed.
    • Foster effective communication between the mechanical engineering team and other disciplines (electrical, civil, etc.) to ensure smooth project execution.
    • Ensure all team members adhere to project timelines, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  6. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:


    • Implement and enforce safety standards and protocols on site to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments, addressing any safety concerns promptly.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices throughout the mechanical systems' installation and commissioning process.
  7. Project Quality Assurance:


    • Ensure that all mechanical systems and components are installed and tested in compliance with the project specifications, quality standards, and industry norms.
    • Participate in quality control activities such as inspections, audits, and reviews to verify the mechanical systems meet project and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, approved by the Saudi Council of Engineers.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical systems for large power projects and synchronous condenser projects.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, pumps, valves, and pressure vessels, particularly in power plant environments.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Familiarity with Management Information Systems (MIS) for project tracking and reporting.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Certifications: Must be approved by the Saudi Council of Engineers.

Additional Requirements:


  • Willingness to relocate and work in Saudi Arabia for the duration of the project.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions within the scope of the project.

Additional Information
  • Site-based position requiring regular travel to and from project sites.
  • Long working hours and occasional weekend shifts may be required to meet project deadlines.
  • Exposure to various environmental conditions associated with construction sites.
