ROLE OVERVIEW
The role of the Engineer – Medium Voltage is to manage, maintain and optimize the medium voltage (MV) electrical system within the NEOM Communities. This role requires an understanding of MV electrical systems safety protocols, and maintenance practices to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the MV equipment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Functionally:
- Design Reviews: Review and update MV Electrical system designs, ensuring they meet safety and regulatory requirements.
- MV System Management: Oversee the transition of MV electrical assets from contractor to operation and maintenance team. Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, modernization, and efficiency improvements within the MV system.
- Minor Works Projects: Support in planning, coordinating, and executing minor works projects.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Oversee routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections of MV Equipment and networks to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Investigate electrical related equipment issues and failures through root cause analysis and diagnoses and resolve issues and faults in MV systems.
- Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response efforts during MV system failures or out-ages. Coordinate and assist in the restoration of power.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of MV system configurations, maintenance activities, and equipment specifications. Generate technical reports and documentation as required.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations, codes, and standards pertaining to MV systems. Ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all MV Systems adhere to safety standards and regulations. Implement safety procedures and conduct risk assessments.
- Training and Knowledge Sharing: Provide training and guidance to junior staff in MV systems, safety procedures, and best practices.
- Management and assistance of Service Partners: Maintain full understanding of agreed SLA and KPIs to be delivered by contracted Service Partner. Assist Service Partner technical staff to process requests promptly and accurately.
- Ad hoc tasks: All other duties reasonably requested by NEOM Operations team.
BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of operational experience in MV systems related to operations and maintenance.
- Operational experience in power generators
- Operational experience in testing and commission as well as project handover
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to MV systems.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office, CAD and ETAP
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Proficiency in English (required)
- Flexibility to respond to a range
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Relevant certification or training medium voltage systems and safety.
- Ideal Membership of relevant Institute or Society
