Electrical Project Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

1. Substation Installation Supervision:

• Oversee the installation of substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, busbars, and control systems.
• Ensure that all equipment is installed according to design drawings, specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.
• Monitor the progress of installation activities and ensure execution within the project timeline and budget.

1. Testing and Commissioning:

• Coordinate and perform testing of substation equipment, including primary and secondary injection testing, insulation resistance testing, and transformer oil analysis.
• Ensure proper commissioning of substation components and systems, verifying that they function according to design requirements.
• Document and report test results, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

1. Coordination with Contractors and Teams:

• Liaise with civil, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure smooth integration of activities during substation construction.
• Work with contractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
• Ensure that all subcontractors adhere to safety and quality standards, and resolve any issues that arise during installation.

1. Project Planning and Scheduling:

• Prepare detailed project schedules for substation installation, ensuring alignment with overall project timelines.
• Coordinate with project managers and procurement teams to ensure that all materials and resources are available when needed.
• Monitor and track project milestones, making adjustments to the schedule as necessary to meet deadlines.

1. Quality Control and Assurance:

• Perform regular inspections of installation activities to ensure compliance with electrical standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC) and project specifications.
• Ensure that all substation components are installed to the highest quality standards, following best practices and manufacturer recommendations.
• Address and resolve any non-conformance issues during the installation process.

1. Health and Safety Compliance:

• Ensure that all installation activities adhere to health and safety regulations, including electrical safety standards.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure that all team members follow appropriate safety practices, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Provide safety training to workers and contractors on-site, ensuring the prevention of accidents and electrical hazards.

1. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of all installation activities, including test results, equipment specifications, and progress reports.
• Prepare daily or weekly reports on the status of substation installation, highlighting any issues or delays.
• Ensure that all documentation is completed for final handover of the substation to the client or operational team.

1. Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

• Provide technical guidance and support to installation teams and contractors, ensuring proper understanding of design and installation requirements.
• Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the installation process, including equipment malfunctions or design conflicts.
• Coordinate with design engineers and project management to implement any necessary changes or adjustments.
