Job Overview: The Director of Facility at Equinox Resort Amaala is responsible for the overall operation and staff of the Facilities department, ensuring the mechanical and physical functionality of the entire resort according to Equinox Resorts standards. The role includes oversight of all maintenance activities, ensuring alignment with the resort’s operational needs, and ensuring that all facilities meet the luxury standards of Equinox Resorts.
Essential Job Functions:
Leadership: Oversee and manage the Facilities department at Equinox Resort Amaala, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff performance. Provide leadership and direction to the Facilities team to ensure high standards of service and operational excellence in a luxury resort environment.
Operational Management: Direct and coordinate all maintenance activities, ensuring that facilities operate efficiently and effectively in support of the resort's operations. Develop and implement procedures to optimize the performance of the Facilities department, consistent with Equinox Resorts' standards.
Budgeting & Financial Management: Develop and manage the department's budget, ensuring all financial controls are in place and adhered to. Report financial performance and any discrepancies to the General Manager and VP of Finance, Equinox Resort Amaala.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure Equinox Resort Amaala complies with all local building codes, regulations, permits, and licenses.
Guest Experience: Work closely with other departments to ensure that the physical condition of Equinox Resort Amaala enhances the guest experience. Respond to guest requests, concerns, and complaints in a timely and effective manner, ensuring a luxurious and seamless experience.
Project Management: Oversee renovations, remodeling projects, and other construction activities at Equinox Resort Amaala. Work with contractors to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of luxury resort operations.
Communication: Establish and maintain effective communication within the Facilities department and with other departments at Equinox Resort Amaala. Ensure that all staff are informed of resort policies, procedures, and standards.
Sustainability & Energy Management: Develop and implement energy conservation programs and sustainability initiatives aligned with the goals of Equinox Resort Amaala.
Strategic Planning: Contribute to the overall strategic planning of Equinox Resort Amaala by providing input on facilities-related issues. Ensure that the Facilities department is aligned with the resort's long-term goals and the broader strategy of Equinox Resorts.
Qualifications/Skills:
Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and /or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Essential:
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in both English and Arabic (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers, and management to their understanding.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience leading a team and Minimum of 5 years in the luxury sector leadership.
- Pre-Opening Hotel/Resorts experience in project management, particularly in overseeing luxury resort renovations and new construction. (Required)
- Knowledge and experience on building automation systems related to HVAC, lighting controls, BMS and energy.
- Proven leadership abilities and experience in managing a large, diverse workforce in a luxury resort setting.
- Strong operational management skills with an emphasis on facilities management within a high-end resort environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, financial management, and reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and compliance standards relevant to luxury resorts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capability to think quickly and act decisively in emergency situations.
- Commitment to sustainability and energy management practices, aligned with the goals of Equinox Resort Amaala.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including AM, PM, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Desirable:
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in Facilities Management or Engineering.
- AED & CPR Certification.
- Experience working in the Middle East, with a strong understanding of the local market and regulatory environment.
