Job Purpose / Objective 


Responsible for CSSD operation and performance including proper inventory, anticipating the needs, proper storage of the sterile supplies, CSSD staff performance, keeping record and adhering to infection control policies as well as compliance to JCIA/ CBAHI Standards.


Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities  


  • Participate in preparing and updating of CSSD policies and procedures.
  • Prepare the quality indicators data as required by quality department.
  • Prepare staff monthly Rota and ensures department coverage.
  • Orient new staff performance and completes all required due evaluation as per performance appraisal policy.
  • Ensure all CSSD pass the required competencies.
  • Conduct professional training, in-service education sessions and keep the staff updated.
  • Report the incidents (non-functioning machines, missing instrument, parts and errors and wrong practice) to OR Head Nurse immediately.
  • Attend the meetings as required.
  • Present CSSD in infection control committee.
  • Demonstrate effective knowledge and skills in supervising the daily activities/ tasks (decontamination, inspection/ packing, sterilization and distribution of the supplies).
  • Demonstrate effective use of washing/ disinfecting packaging and sterilizing equipment used in CSSD processes.
  • Monitor the daily testing of sterilizers (warm-up cycle, Bowie and Dick test, Spore test, and leak test) and keep proper record for tracking and auditing purposes.
  • Participate in the daily works/ tasks if needed.
  • Prepare the periodic reports (census/ performance staff related and inventory).
  • Maintain safe environment.
  • Anticipate the departmental needs and completes PRs, MRs accordingly.
  • Comply with HMG Dress Code Policy.
  • Conduct daily rounds to the unit sections to ensure the appropriateness.
  • Check in/ out of loan sets from companies and other hospitals as well as maintaining good record and log.
  • Demonstrate high level of flexibility/ sense of responsibility and cooperation.
  • Demonstrate ability to handle and operate the following machine/ equipment:
    • Ultrasonic machine
    • Steam sterilizer
    • I. Incubator
    • Washer disinfector
    • Sealing device
  • Participate in, and lead person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
  • Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
  • Perform other applicable task and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Education/ Professional Qualification


Diploma or equivalent in Sterilization


Experience


Minimum of at least 5 years working experience in same specialty


Professional Licensing / Certification / Training


Saudi Council License
