The Purpose of the Role
Support the development of conceptual, budgetary, and fixed priced sales proposals in the Equipment Technical Sales organization by developing accurate, timely and professional estimates. You will analyze the sales estimates against the customer requirements and provide guidance on factors to be used for competitive and accurate estimating. You will provide accurate and timely estimates which include scope, material, and labor effort by skilled discipline. You will develop cost effective estimates and identify explicit proposal inclusions to be prepared within required timelines. You will seek new and creative solutions for addressing customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
·Develop Estimates that are aligned with AACE Class 2 – 5 cost estimating standards
·Analyze / validate received quotations from external vendors for cost and scope accuracy
·Implement and train others in the group and broader organization regarding AACE-based standards and practices
·Collaborate with UOP Procurement function regarding external vendor RFQ management
·Collaborate with UOP assigned execution team members in the completion of technical evaluation of received external vendor quotations.
·Collaborate with UOP Procurement function in creating and maintaining external vendor bid tabs
·Develop and implement criteria for external vendor bid selections as a basis for proposal cost workbooks
·Maintain, improve, and manage distribution of the group’s Cost Workbook tool
·Develop and implement criteria for setting of appropriate contingency in Cost Workbooks
·Develop and implement Monte Carlo simulation methods for analyzing cost risk and related budget probability statistics.
·Identify Proposal Inclusions
·Create Alternate Solutions
·Build relationships between internal customers
YOU MUST HAVE
·Bachelor's degree, or equivalent. Some experience in the field preferred.
·Strong experience in performing cost estimating in support of EPC related projects in the refining, and/or petrochemical, and/or gas processing industries.
WE VALUE
·AACE Certification, or comparable, is preferred
·Experience with cost estimating tools such as Aspen Icarus, Cleopatra, or comparable
·Excellent team and communication skills
·An ability to take initiative and work with limited direction
·Strong numerical aptitude
·Demonstrated proficiency with Excel
·Ability to meet and improve delivered financial results from implemented estimates
·Six Sigma experience / Green Belt certification is a plus
