Overview We are seeking a Corrosion control Engineer to join our Pipelines operations unit. The Pipelines operations unit is responsible for resolving problems in corrosion and materials performance affecting the pipelines. Your primary role is to be an expert to undertake or coordinate complex corrosion work and resolving problems in corrosion and materials performance affecting the pipelines.
Key Responsibilities As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
Responsible for data collection, assessment and calculation of pipeline corrosion and monitor corrosion trends.
Provide and implement recommendations periodically to, monitor, inspect, mitigate and minimize/control corrosion rates to acceptable levels.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the corrosion inhibitors and provide corrective actions.
Perform corrosion failure investigations and special corrosion related studies and Review corrosion mitigation and monitoring activities in the field to identify the needed system modifications or procedural changes.
Initiate and conduct special studies to minimize/control corrosion to improve the facilities operation. Provide field technical assistance, assist in design and construction of corrosion control projects.
Lead and provide expert advice on maintenance and operation of all corrosion related activities throughout the concerned pipeline department.
Develop detailed scopes of work and contract agreements.
Responsible for the implementation of the recommended actions in the integrity plans of the pipelines.
Review design package for pipelines new projects.
Conduct field trials for the new recommended chemicals and/or technologies in collaboration with all related parties to select the best-in-class.
Report the corrosion activities to group leader/unit supervisor/Pipelines Technical Support/Saudi Aramco Consulting Services Department.
Minimum requirements
The Candidate must have a Bachelor Degree in Chemical, Materials or Metallurgical Engineering with minimum of 10 years of experience in corrosion monitoring and control activities.
Carries NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) internal corrosion specialist OR NACE corrosion specialist and has technical contribution in corrosion studies and research.
The Candidate shall: Holds API 510, API570, AWS, RBI, Coating, and NDT.
Familiarity of international codes/standards applicable to inspection (ASTM, API, ASME, TEMA, NACE, ANSI, etc,).
Has thorough knowledge of various forms of corrosion and their identification along with monitoring and mitigation methods.
Has through knowledge and experience in chemical inhibitors treatment, cathodic protection, material selection and coatings.
Be able to work independently in a new work situation and guide/train local corrosion enginee
