The BIM Engineer assists the manager as a project team member, interacting with project owners, architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors to develop and analyze the virtual construction process in order to maximize construction efficiency, job cost savings, as well as enhance project documentation and delivery.
Develop and maintain Building Information Models (BIM) for construction projects, including architectural, structural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems, using BIM software such as Autodesk Revit.
Participate in coordination meetings with architects, engineers, and contractors to review BIM models, resolve clashes or conflicts, and ensure design coordination and integration.
Perform quality checks on BIM models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements, standards, and codes.
Assist in implementing BIM processes and workflows across project teams, including training and supporting team members in BIM software and methodologies.
Clash Detection: Conduct clash detection analyses using BIM software to identify and resolve conflicts between different building systems or components before construction, minimizing rework and errors.
Quantity Takeoff: Utilize BIM models to extract quantities of materials and components for cost estimation, scheduling, and procurement purposes, supporting project planning and management.
Visualization and Rendering: Generate 3D visualizations, renderings, and walkthroughs from BIM models to communicate design concepts, facilitate client presentations, and enhance project visualization.
Model Integration: Integrate BIM models with other project data and software platforms, such as project management tools and scheduling software, to streamline information sharing and collaboration.
Data Management: Manage BIM data and files, including version control, file organization, and access permissions, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability throughout the project lifecycle.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on BIM technology trends, best practices, and industry standards, and contribute to the continuous improvement of BIM processes, workflows, and methodologies within the organization.
