OverviewAs an AH-64E Maintenance Instructor, this role involves instructing Aircraft Maintenance courses and supporting Ground Support Equipment (GSE) under the supervision of the Senior Training Manager. Responsibilities encompass serving as a Maintenance Instructor, delivering academic instruction, hands-on performance training, and evaluations to ensure student proficiency and compliance with academic standards. Maintaining Individual Gradebook Folders is a key aspect of the position. Additionally, the employee functions as an instructor for Aviation Qualification courses, conducting instruction in alignment with the Training Manager's directives. The duties performed include academic instruction, hands-on performance training, and thorough evaluation and analysis to ensure students perform efficiently and adhere to academic standards within the AH-64E Qualification course.
Responsibilities- Train and evaluate Aviation mechanics in the AH-64E Series Aircraft in accordance with the appropriate maintenance TM’s and the POI guidelines.
- Conduct and evaluate individual OJT and JOB book level progression tasks.
- Prepare mechanics through realistic OJT training under local environmental conditions.
- Verify and confirm that all required maintenance training publications are current and complete.
- Conduct POI technical writing/course development and periodic revisions as necessary.
- Develop Maintenance Training Programs in accordance with customer guidance.
- Verify and confirm that all training publications are current and complete.
- Prepare students through realistic training scenarios.
- Responsible for providing direct interface and daily status reports as required.
- Able to perform duties in a sensitive environment and maintain a professional approach, attitude, and appearance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensures that AH-64E Series maintenance training functional activities and procedures among designated contractor organizations are planned, coordinated, integrated, and synchronized to achieve established platform operational readiness (OR) rates IAW contractual requirements.
- Responsible to Maintenance Manager through lead trainer for compliance with established maintenance systems, processes, procedures and reports that provide immediate situational awareness of platform OR rates.
- Works with Maintenance Manager through lead trainer to establish daily training maintenance operational goals, objectives and priorities for implementation in order to achieve stated OR rates.
- Oversees the daily maintenance training management of individually assigned aircraft in support of the Aviation Maintenance Manager, in conjunction with the Aviation Logistics and Supply Division Manager activities for related platform parts and spares.
- Works within the maintenance quality control processes, procedures, and standards.
- Ensures all maintenance operations and related maintenance support activities are conducted in a safe manner.
- Supports, in coordination with the Maintenance Manager and Flight Operations Manager, the Downed Aircraft Recovery Team (DART) process and procedure.
- Other duties as assigned and or directed by management.
- Performs within the broad guidelines of duties and responsibilities with significant choice of methods.
- Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications- Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma required; Associates degree preferred.
- Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) Certification required.
- Military: Graduate of Army Aviation aircraft mechanic maintenance course or civilian equivalent required. Factory training desired.
- Demonstrated past experience as academics instructor required.
- Experience:
- 5 years former Aviation Maintenance experience required.
- Former Aviation Quality or Production Control preferred.
- Experience as a platform instructor preferred. 8-10 years’ experience in Army Aviation Operations preferred.
- Experience within the last 2 years required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of rotary wing Aviation operations inclusive of maintenance, Aviation logistics, flight operations and training.
- Certificates: Army Aviation maintenance certification with rating in the AH-64 or UH-60 or MD500 Series Aircraft (Army Rotary Wing equivalent) or OH-58D desired.
- FAA, A&P certificate or Equivalent required.
- Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms, and other aircraft related documentation.
- Demonstrated past performance and experience in Crew Chief duties and responsibilities.
- Army service school instructor or civilian equivalent teaching experience for UH-60, AH-64, MD500 Series Aircraft (Rotary Wing Aircraft equivalent) mechanics preferred.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- DD214 required for military experience.
- Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include medical, drug testing, background checks, etc.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a military maintenance unit.
- Strong knowledge of military logistics procedures and regulations.
