Main Responsibilities:
Inspect welding operations on piping systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Verify that welding procedures and qualifications are in accordance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, AWS, etc.).
Perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) on welds, including ultrasonic testing (UT), radiographic testing (RT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and dye penetrant testing (PT).
Review welding procedures, inspection reports, and related documentation to ensure accuracy and quality.
Monitor welding processes during construction and installation of piping systems to ensure proper techniques are applied.
Ensure that all welders and welding teams are properly trained and qualified for the specific types of welding required.
Generate and maintain accurate inspection records and reports for quality assurance and client documentation.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to resolve any welding-related issues.
Perform welding equipment inspections and ensure proper calibration and maintenance.
Essential Qualifications:
Certification as a Welding Inspector (e.g., CSWIP, AWS, or equivalent).
Relevant technical qualification (e.g., Degree or Diploma in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field).
Valid certification in NDT methods (RT, UT, MT, PT).
In-depth knowledge of welding processes, codes, and standards, particularly in piping systems.
Familiarity with industry standards for piping, including ASME B31.3, API, and ASME Section IX.
Skills Required:
Strong knowledge of welding techniques and processes for piping systems (e.g., SMAW, TIG, MIG).
Ability to interpret piping drawings, isometric drawings, welding symbols, and codes.
Proficiency in NDT techniques (e.g., RT, UT, MT, PT).
Excellent attention to detail and strong quality control skills.
Strong communication skills to work effectively with clients, engineers, and field personnel.
Ability to identify and resolve welding-related issues in the piping installation process.
Strong organizational skills to manage documentation, reports, and inspection schedules.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment while maintaining quality standards.
