STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (B)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The purpose of the job of a Structural Engineer (B) is to handle structural engineering tasks that involve the design, analysis, and management of structural systems for various construction projects. This role generally represents a specific classification within the structural engineering profession, often denoting a mid-level position with a focus on executing and overseeing structural design and analysis with a certain degree of responsibility and expertise. The Sl get to design and review the design of various types of structures including bridges, tunnels, underpasses, retaining walls, car parks, and public infrastructure-related buildings/structures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Detailed structural design of bridges, tunnels, underpasses, retaining walls, car parks, and public infrastructure-related buildings/structures.
• Produce design drawings, calculations reports and specifications.
• Supervise other engineers and CAD team as per project task assigned.
• May supervise subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
• Provides technical guidance to younger engineers.
• Proficient in utilizing standard engineering principles, techniques and analyses to complete conventional, moderately complex assignments within the structure discipline.
• Proficient in utilizing engineering software packages associated with the structures discipline.
• Track the progress of the assigned design and report to the Senior and Principal Engineers of the status and any issues that may arise during the design development.
• Support other engineering activities as required by the senior and principal engineer.
  Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
  

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors Degree in Structural Engineering and 5+ years of related work experience.
• Must be MME registered.
• Masters Degree in Structural Engineering is highly preferred.
• Possession of internationally recognized engineering licenses such as PE, SE, and CEng is highly preferred.
  Familiarity with Revit software. 
• Work experience must be related to HANDS-ON DESIGN of structures.
• Intimate knowledge of the following software: Midas Civil, CSi Bridge, SAP2000, Structural Bridge Design (Auto Desk), AutoCAD, Bentley RAM connections/elements, Prokon
• Intimate knowledge of following design codes.
• Ashghal IAN009 and other structural design related Interim Advice Notes, British Standards, Eurocode, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
• Business-level English language skills sufficient to produce well-written reports with organized structure and minimal need for grammatical corrections, and to hold articulate verbal communications.
• Good verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with the client, management, and project personnel on technical and non-technical subjects.
• Interfaces with Clients on matters relating to work assignments.
• Native-level English speaking and writing skills
