Doha Academy is a growing group of schools situated in the heart of Qatar’s cosmopolitan capital city. Founded in 2000, Doha Academy currently consists of three schools and offers a KG-13, British-based and Qatar national curriculum. Working at Doha Academy provides excellent career progression opportunities to staff who are themselves ambitious, forward-thinking, and student-centred in their decision-making.Currently we're looking for a Social worker/School CouncilorConducts, coordinates, or uses assessments and evaluations to develop appropriate interventions for students, families, schools, and communitiesDevelops long-term and short-term intervention plans consistent with curriculum; students’ needs, strengths, diversity and life experiences; and social and emotional factorsUses a variety of appropriate formal and informal tools and techniques including observations and interviews to evaluate the progress and performance of students and familiesAddresses the needs of the school, student, families, and community by collaborating with school based, planning, and/or community-based teams to design a holistic approach to any barriers or problems with the educational processDirect Services / Service DeliveryUses knowledge and understanding of the reciprocal influences of home, school, and community to intervene for student success via such practices as assessment, crisis intervention and response, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counselling, consultation, program development, dropout prevention, special education programs and related services, graduation awareness, and coordination of school and community services.Promotes family support of students’ learning experience within the context of multicultural understanding and competenciesProvides services to students in ways that build upon individual strengths and offers students maximum opportunities to participate in the planning and direction of their own learning experienceDevelops and provides training and educational programs that address the goals and mission of the educational institutionGeneral Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelops, maintains, and monitors written plans that encourage student successMaintains written records / incident reports related to student behavioral issues, parent meetings and other matters related to but not limited to school issuesMaintain written records under his / her custody and saves them for at least five yearsMaintains accurate case records and documentation in files and in the Personal ComputerStandards and Quality AssuranceSupport the aims and ethos of the SchoolFollow School's policies and proceduresSet a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendanceAttend and participate in open evenings and report on pupil progressUphold the school's behavior code and uniform regulationsParticipate and contribute to staff trainingAttend team and staff meetingsPositively embrace professional development and researchAbility to reflect on and improve performanceAdditional DutiesBe a role model in all his/her actions and behaviorTo undertake professional development and research as agreedTo be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to Child Protection and safeguarding, Health and Safety, and report all concerns to the appropriate personTo take part in activities such as Open Evenings, Parents’ Evenings, Sports days etc.
