Senior Electrical Engineer

This is an excellent opportunity to join the team in Doha to work on the design of some of the most exciting design and construction projects in the Middle East Region and worldwide. Working closely with colleagues across our multi-disciplinary practice, you will provide specialist consultancy input on projects across a wide range of sectors including Education, Healthcare, Critical Systems and Retail.

Under the guidance of our team of expert engineers this wide-ranging role will require you to carry out detailed Electrical Building Services engineering design and analysis, defining and translating clients’ needs into designs for buildings, facilities and services (electrical distribution and power generation, security and access control) all with sustainability at the forefront of the design. Knowledge and experience on MEP electrical and ELV designs is required for the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage electrical design projects for commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, and mixed-use developments.
• Develop electrical system designs, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, ELV, and other low-voltage systems.
• Ensure designs comply with Qatar Civil Defence (QCD), Kahramaa regulations, NFPA, IEC, BS, IEEE, and other relevant international standards.
• Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical systems efficiently within the overall building design.
• Conduct electrical load calculations, voltage drop assessments, and short-circuit analysis using software such as ETAP, Dialux, and AutoCAD.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and BOQs for tender and construction documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams.

Accredited with a MEng degree level (or equivalent) in Electrical or Building Services Engineering, you have a real interest in sustainable Building Services design and analysis for the built environment, and crucially - have a passion for creative and intuitive design as well as a thirst for personal development and career progression.

Requirements

• Qatar UPDA Grade A, QCDD Certified and experience of working in Qatar and the Middle East is highly preferred.
• Professional certification such as LEED, PMP, CEng, or equivalent is preferred.
• Educated to degree level in electrical engineering or building services engineering, with relevant experience in both site supervision and design roles within a building services consultancy covering (power, lighting, fire alarm, containment, lightning protection systems, CCTV, access control, audio-visual, PA, IPTV, structured cabling, and other systems).
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, ETAP, Dialux, and Amtech.
• You have a solid understanding of the relevant industry codes and good practice, have experience of detailed co-ordination with other design disciplines, and have proven ability in both overseeing and producing creative, sustainable, and intuitive design solutions.
• Given the collaborative and client focused nature of this role, excellent communication skills and programme management skills are essential.
