Under supervision, execute security responsibilities for one or more non-complex Security work streams in order to protect BAE Systems and BSL, its people, infrastructure, information and assets, as well as the interests of its shareholders and customers, and to fulfil regulatory and legal obligations.Core Activity
  • Carry out security tasks and coordinate security services based on relevant policies, standards, procedures and best practices of the assigned work stream.
  • Support the Security Manager in the production of Threat AssessmentsSupport the other Functions in the management and control of Classified Information including Document and IT musters.
  • Monitor the adequacy of the security measures within their business area to ensure that policies and procedures are up-to-date and take account of developments.Support the Vetting Process and Personnel Security processing.
  • Coordinate the readiness of their team’s response to security incidents
  • Conduct and review security assessments and define operational requirements for the assigned work-stream to protect critical assets
  • Assure the integrity of BAE, BSL employees and associated contractors working in the assigned business area by maintaining personnel security and access control processes and procedures.
  • Provide security advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders and make recommendations to improve security solutions for the work stream.
  • Maintain effective relationships and coordination with key local functions and business representatives.
  • Support the security culture by raising security awareness among employees and management in the local area and modelling behaviours that demonstrate BAE Systems and BSL values.

RequirementsKnowledge:
  • Job holder requires an in-depth understanding of own discipline, processes and procedures. Also requires a basic understanding of other disciplines within Security such as Cyber and Information.
  • Operates within defined Security processes/proceduresKnowledge and skills required for the job can be acquired either through considerable on the job experience or a level of basic theoretical knowledge.
  • Job requires an understanding of how own tasks and duties impact others in the team and the overall area.
  • Job requires an understanding of how the team coordinates their efforts to achieve the overall objectives of the team
  • The job holder is required to understand the roles and responsibilities of all of their immediate team members to help them understand how working as a team helps them achieve overall team objectives
  • Requires a good understanding and knowledge of the area in which the role operates. Required to support the wider team.
Skills:
  • Job holder works within defined processes and procedure, making straightforward judgements by selecting the appropriate solution. The job holder may draw upon experience and practice to decide what solution is the most appropriate
  • Developed communication skills require due to nature of work in Security – often handling sensitive employee data, and awkward contacts. Tact and diplomacy required to reach a suitable outcome. Information is not usually complex in nature.
  • The ability to apply skills and knowledge to a range of problems and issues. Draws upon more experienced members of the team for guidance and advice.
  • To have a proactive approach to solving problems, working with the wider team to develop solutions.
  • An ability to understand when to escalate matters for senior input.
  • Procedures fully understood and role holder confident in solutionising from these procedures.

Qualifications (or Experience):
  • Experience of Physical, Operational, Personnel and Information Security.
  • Translating into appropriate solutions and delivering within budget/timescales.
