Principal ERP Administration Specialist
The SAP Basis Consultant is responsible for the administration, performance tuning, monitoring, and management of SAP systems (ECC, Fiori, BW, EP, SAP Router and solution manager). The role involves configuring, maintaining, and optimizing SAP landscapes to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance. The consultant will work closely with functional and technical teams to ensure the smooth operation of SAP environments and support system upgrades, migrations, patching, and troubleshooting.

Job Summary:
The SAP Basis Consultant is responsible for the administration, performance tuning, monitoring, and management of SAP systems (ECC, Fiori, BW, EP, SAP Router and solution manager). The role involves configuring, maintaining, and optimizing SAP landscapes to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance. The consultant will work closely with functional and technical teams to ensure the smooth operation of SAP environments and support system upgrades, migrations, patching, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
SAP System Administration:

• Manage and administer SAP environments (ECC, S/4HANA, BW, Fiori, PO, Solution Manager, etc.).
• Perform system installations, configurations, upgrades, migrations, and patches.
• Monitor system health, performance, and availability through tools such as SAP Solution Manager, HANA Cockpit, and other third-party monitoring tools.

Performance Tuning and Optimization:

• Conduct regular system performance analysis and recommend tuning strategies to optimize SAP systems.
• Manage memory, CPU, disk I/O, and other system resources to ensure efficient utilization.
• Analyze long-running jobs and perform database and application performance tuning.

User and Authorization Management:

• Create and manage users, roles, and authorizations within the SAP landscape.
• Maintain security policies and audit logs for compliance and governance.
• Work closely with the SAP security team to ensure system security and access controls.

System Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

• Monitor system logs, performance metrics, and alert mechanisms to detect issues proactively.
• Investigate and resolve system errors, dumps, and performance bottlenecks.
• Provide troubleshooting support for both SAP application and database issues.

System Upgrades and Migrations:

• Plan and execute system upgrades, Enhancement Packs (EHP), and SAP Kernel updates.
• Perform database migrations (e.g., to SAP HANA) and OS/DB migrations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for testing and validation of system changes.

Patch Management and SAP Notes:

• Apply SAP Notes, support packages, and legal changes regularly to keep the system up-to-date.
• Ensure that patches and updates are tested and implemented without impacting system availability.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

• Work closely with SAP functional, development, and infrastructure teams to support business needs.
• Assist project teams in managing SAP system landscapes for development, testing, and production environments.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and SAP consultants to provide technical insights and recommendations.

System Replication and High Availability:

• Configure and manage system replication for SAP HANA to support high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR).
• Regularly test and document failover procedures to ensure business continuity.
• Ensure replication status is monitored, up-to-date, and functioning without delays

SAP HANA Database Administration:

• Install, configure, and manage SAP HANA databases, ensuring optimal performance and resource utilization.
• Perform system upgrades, patches, migrations, and support packages for SAP HANA and related SAP applications.
• Implement best practices for HANA database administration, including memory and CPU allocation, partitioning, and data compression.

SAP HANA System Backup and Recovery:

• Design and implement backup and recovery strategies for SAP HANA, ensuring minimal data loss and downtime.
• Perform regular backups, restore operations, and test disaster recovery plans.
• Ensure data replication and high availability are configured and functioning correctly for SAP HANA systems.
