About the job MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER (HVAC)
Key Responisibilities
Project Management: Independently handle HVAC design projects, ensuring that all client requirements are met within the scope and timelines.
System Conceptualization: Develop conceptual designs based on the project's nature and specific HVAC requirements, considering both technical and regulatory factors.
Design Criteria Development: Define and develop design criteria outlining system requirements for HVAC systems, ensuring performance, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Detailed Design Development: Create and review detailed HVAC design documents, including calculations for sizing and selecting systems, airflow diagrams, and Utility Systems Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
Final Design Documents: Prepare final design documents, including specifications, sequences of operation, HVAC ductwork layouts, and construction documents for system installation.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant HVAC codes and industry standards, ensuring safety and regulatory alignment throughout all stages of design.
Software Proficiency: Utilize HVAC design software such as HAP, CAD, and Revit to create and refine designs and simulations.
Equipment Selection: Manage the selection of HVAC equipment based on project specifications and requirements.
Tender Specification Preparation: Prepare tender specifications, ensuring clarity and precision in documentation for vendor and contractor submission.
Design Reports: Prepare and present detailed design reports that outline technical solutions, calculations, and rationale for design decisions.
Coordination: Lead inter-disciplinary coordination between engineering teams and other departments, ensuring smooth communication and project progress.
Vendor Coordination: Engage with suppliers and vendors to discuss HVAC equipment selection, technical specifications, and procurement processes.
Client Interaction: Conduct regular review meetings with clients to discuss project progress, gather feedback, and make necessary design revisions.
Design Problem Resolution: Address and resolve design-related challenges across all project phases, from conceptualization through to final construction.
Key Qualifications:
Experience: 5-10 years of hands-on experience in HVAC design, with a focus on ventilation and air conditioning systems.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles, building codes, and international standards.
Software Proficiency: Experience with HVAC design tools such as HAP, AutoCAD, Revit, and similar platforms.
Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to manage clients, vendors, and internal teams effectively.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to overcome design challenges.
Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (preferably with a focus on HVAC or Building Services).
