JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager - Infection Prevention and Control has a pivotal role in the development and implementation of a comprehensive coordinated and inpatient and outpatient infection prevention and control service. The incumbent works as a key member of the hospitals management team and assumes 24 hour accountability for overall management and delivery of Infection Prevention and Control to achieve optimal patient outcomes and to meet the commissioning, service activation and ongoing operational needs.
The Manager - Infection Prevention and Control is accountable to the CEO/CMO/CNO for ensuring that the standards for infection prevention and control practice are fully complied with and to maintain and sustain a comprehensive advisory service across Sidra. In collaboration with other service areas, the Manager - Infection Prevention and Control ensures that recruiting, commissioning, infection prevention and control orientation and service activation are carried out in accordance with operational activities and timelines.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Directs planning activities related to Infection Prevention and Control Services, including: interviewing, hiring and on-boarding, commissioning, integration and implementation of the Clinical information system, and clinical service activation
- Provides leadership in the infection control portions of the facilities commissioning and the services activation plan for the Hospital
- Builds trusting, collaborative relationships with staff, peers, other disciplines, ancillary services physicians, vendors and community leaders creating and communicates a shared vision both for the organization and for Infection Prevention and Control Services
- Collaborates with ancillary support services in adherence to international standards to plan a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors

- Creates an environment which recognizes and values cultural differences in staff, physicians, patients and communities
- Represents Infection Prevention and Control Services to non-health care constituents within the community
- Provides consultation to community and business leaders regarding Infection Prevention and Control policies and practices
- Builds credibility with physicians as champions for infection prevention and control, staff health practices and professionalism
- Reviews, revises and gains approval for the implementation of the infection prevention and control plan
- Reviews, revises and ensures promoting Sidra as a safe, healthy and caring work environment
- Ensures that written organization infection prevention and control clinical policies and procedures are reviewed and updated in accordance with evidence-based practice
- Serves as a change agent when infection prevention and control policies are redesigned
- Interprets information from research and utilizes research findings for the establishment of infection prevention and control standards, practices and patient care models
- Disseminates research findings related to infection prevention and control to patient care team members as appropriate, and then envisions and develops them
- Supports the development and implementation of an organization-wide patient program in cooperation with the Quality Department as related to infection prevention and control and practices
- Determines infection prevention and control quality improvement goals and objectives
- Demonstrates the value of lifelong learning through one’s own example
- Conducts periodic organizational assessments to identify succession planning issues and establishes action plans
- Serves as a professional role model and mentor to future Infection Prevention Control Practitioners
- Holds self and others accountable for actions and outcomes
- Teaches and mentors others to routinely utilize evidence-based data and research
- Recognizes the relevance of infection prevention and control data for improving practice
- Represents Infection Prevention and Control Services to non-health care constituents within the community

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
ESSENTIAL PREFERRED Education Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field Experience 10+ years Infection Control Practitioner or Appropriate Education Middle East Executive Management Experience Certification and Licensure Licensed +/- Certified in Country of Origin Advanced Certification in Infection Control Practice (CICP) Professional Membership Job Specific Skills and Abilities - Demonstrated ability to develop and implement hospital wide surveillance programs.
- Ability to assess hospital site and environment for infection prevention and control hazards and risks in accordance with current international guidelines.
- Ability to analyze financial statements and manage financial resources by developing business plans and budgets.
- Ability to articulate and advocate for infection prevention and control standards as published by the Joint Commission International, The Ministry of Public Health, World Health Organization, and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other internationally recognized standards
- Ability to make oral and written presentations to diverse audiences on infection prevention and control issues
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Fluency in written and spoken English
