The Legal Specialist is responsible for providing legal support in all aspects of the company's real estate transactions, property management, and business operations. This role involves reviewing legal documents, ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating legal risks, and providing counsel to the company on legal matters.
Contract Management:
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts related to property sales, leases, and other real estate transactions.
Ensure contracts comply with legal requirements and protect the company's interests.
Legal Documentation:
Prepare legal documents such as deeds, leases, purchase agreements, and legal notices.
Manage the execution and filing of legal documents in compliance with legal standards.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure the company’s activities comply with local, state, and federal real estate regulations.
Monitor changes in real estate law and provide updates to relevant departments.
Dispute Resolution:
Assist in resolving disputes related to contracts, property management, and tenant issues.
Work with external legal counsel when necessary and coordinate litigation strategies.
Risk Management:
Identify potential legal risks related to property acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects.
Provide recommendations to mitigate those risks and ensure legal protection for the company.
Due Diligence:
Conduct legal due diligence for property acquisitions, including reviewing title reports, zoning regulations, environmental assessments, and other legal matters.
Collaborate with other departments in the due diligence process.
Legal Counsel:
Advise company leadership and departments on legal matters and offer legal opinions on business strategies and transactions.
Provide legal support in negotiations, licensing, and permitting processes.
Corporate Governance:
Ensure that corporate governance documents are up-to-date and compliant with applicable laws.
Assist in preparing resolutions, minutes, and other governance documentation.
Real Estate Transactions:
Assist in the legal aspects of real estate purchases, sales, leasing, and financing.
Work with external lawyers, brokers, and consultants to complete transactions.
Litigation Support:
Provide support in legal proceedings related to real estate disputes, including gathering evidence, documentation, and coordinating with external legal teams.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) or related field.
Bar certification or equivalent legal accreditation (if required by jurisdiction).
Experience:
3-5 years of legal experience in real estate, property law, or corporate law.
Experience in contract negotiation and drafting.
Familiarity with real estate regulations, zoning laws, and property management.
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Proficient in legal research tools and software (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
