Job Overview:
The Scheduling Engineer for the Oil and Gas Shutdown project plays a critical role in
developing, managing, and maintaining the detailed schedule of all shutdown activities.
The role
involves closely working with project teams to ensure that all tasks are completed according to
the agreed timeline, optimizing resource utilization and minimizing downtime. The Scheduling
Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the shutdown process is executed smoothly,
adhering
to timelines, safety standards, and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
・ Schedule Development: Develop detailed, accurate, and realistic shutdown
schedules
using tools like Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar software.
・ Task Sequencing: Coordinate with project teams to ensure proper sequencing of
tasks,
including maintenance, inspection, and commissioning activities.
・ Progress Monitoring: Continuously monitor the progress of the shutdown and
update
schedules as necessary to reflect changes in the work scope or timeline.
・ Resource Optimization: Work with the planning and resource teams to ensure
efficient
resource allocation (manpower, equipment, and materials) and resolve any scheduling
conflicts.
・ Risk Management: Identify potential delays or risks in the schedule, and work with
the
project team to develop solutions or mitigation strategies to avoid disruptions during the
shutdown.
・ Collaboration: Act as a liaison between the planning team, operations, maintenance,
contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure everyone is aligned on the schedule and
progress.
・ Change Management: Document and evaluate any changes to the schedule,
ensuring
proper tracking and communication with stakeholders.
・ Reporting: Prepare and present regular progress reports, highlighting key
milestones,
potential delays, and any corrective actions required to meet deadlines.
・ Critical Path Analysis: Perform regular critical path analysis to ensure that key
activities
are being completed on time and take corrective action if necessary.
・ Shutdown Documentation: Ensure that all schedules, documents, and records
related to
the shutdown are properly archived for future reference, audits, or lessons learned.
Qualifications:
・ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
・ 10- years of experience as a Scheduling Engineer, preferably in the oil and gas or
heavy industry sectors.
・ Strong experience using scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.).
・ In-depth knowledge of oil and gas shutdown, turnaround, and maintenance
processes.
・ Excellent understanding of scheduling principles, critical path analysis, and resource
leveling techniques.
・ Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and contractors during shutdowns.
・ Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with
stakeholders across different departments.
・ Ability to thrive under pressure and manage time-sensitive situations effectively.
Desirable Skills:
・ Experience in shutdowns on both offshore and onshore oil and gas platforms.
・ Familiarity with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations in the oil and
gas
