The Infection Control Officer is responsible for the facility Infection Prevention
and Control (IPC) Program, which is designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and
comfortable environment and to help prevent the development and transmission
of communicable diseases and infections.
The Infection Control Officer role is responsible for the oversight of:
IC risk-based approach
Surveillance activities
Infectious diseases emergencies
Clinical strategies to reduce risk
Safe environment of care
Cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization
Communication strategies
Occupational Health and Safety (Includes employees infection
surveillance, immunization, exposure prevention, and post-exposure
evaluation; in coordination with OHS)
Experience required:
A minimum of ten (10) years experience in a hospital facility, required.
A minimum of three (3) years' Experience in Infection Control.
Basic understanding of care processes provided in multiple areas of the
hospital.
Preferably those who have medical background and Certification In Infection Control(CIC) or Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) or Healthcare Certified Infection preventionist (HCIP), Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC) or Professional Diploma in Infection Prevention.
