The Head of Engineering is responsible to plan, organize, oversee and coordinate multi-disciplinary, multiphase construction, capital improvement and major maintenance projects from conceptual initiation through construction closeout for the organization. To determine the budgetary and in house and outsource capability, capacity and resource requirements for the respective functions including overlooking operating properties and drive efficiencies and system improvement, access all assets and improve engineering performance.
Contribute to the development and execution of the department’s short to mid-term plans to ensure alignment with
the division’s strategic priorities and contribute to the development of annual business plans for the assigned areas
of responsibility to support the achievement of financial objectives.
Monitor, control and report key performance indicators related to the department, to track performance and
recommend corrective actions.
Manage the performance management, career progression and activities of direct reports by setting annual
objectives, identifying training opportunities, mentoring, coaching and providing constructive feedback to improve
their performance.
Contribute with ideas that support an efficient and effective structure and resource allocation for the department, to
ensure smooth workflow of operational processes and optimal utilization of resources.
Provide input into the preparation and consolidation of the department’s budget, monitor financial performance
during the year and identify areas of unsatisfactory performance (if any), and recommend mitigating actions.
Develop, coordinate and monitor all guest rooms and public spaces, equipment, and Preventative Maintenance
programs to ensure the reliability, safety, and comfort of all staff and guests.
Coordinate with maintenance managers and general managers regarding all aspects of Capital Improvement projects
including budgeting, forecasting, bidding and selection of potential contractors and thereby Approve Project
Approval Requests for assigned properties.
Coordinate with maintenance managers to follow up on projects and assignments.
Audit and inspect assigned facilities as required with the coordination of operations management team.
Manage the third-party vendor profiles as required with clear expectations and accountability of the Company
standards and procedures.
Promote clear communications with key stakeholders and manage the assigned properties allotted.
Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive business plans and programs that defines the asset engineering
objectives.
Proactively track and monitor Capital and Operation projects, asset inventories, and multiple contracts.
Participate in setting Standard Operating Procedures development, rollout, recommend amendments.
Review potential new systems, equipment, and programs and recommend for use to senior management and
business unit partners.
Participate and represent the Engineering team in refurbishment projects and consultation of new properties.
Scrutinize accounting records and data for operating costs and variance reports.
Explore for opportunities to improve overall bottom line of Property, Operations and Maintenance expenditure
Capital construction project management principles, processes, systems and techniques.
Capital construction and maintenance project funding and budgeting, objective development and work
scheduling.
Principles and practices of civil engineering design and construction and infrastructure maintenance.
Qatar laws, codes and regulations regarding construction and maintenance.
Trends, approaches, analysis and problem-solving techniques used in construction, engineering, inspection
and compliance processes.
Modern methods of construction and engineering and/or architectural design concepts.
Information technology and computer capabilities applicable to functional responsibilities, including
engineering project scheduling software.

Proven ability to create short and long-term strategies that deliver results
ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role
Minimum 8 years working experience, 5 years in a relevant supervisory position, 2 years GCC experience is a plus
