ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
In the frame of a Maintenance Contract for Qatar Armed Forces, the Electronics Maintenance Expert takes part of a team of Three Thales Experts.
Being located at Signal-Corp Base, Thales team is embedded into the Customer’s global team working for the End Users (Qatar Armed Forces).
The Experts team is in charge to provide technical support services to the Customer to repair and maintain the radio until Depot Level (Cards and Components Level).
On top of that, the team works with a support of the Thales back office in France (Design Authority, System Engineering, Supply chain).
The Electronics Maintenance Expert are in charge of:
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organization in all maintenance workshops in order to provide a safe and efficient working environment for the maintenance team.
- Optimize the performance of machinery and equipment to maximize efficiency and productivity. This may include conducting performance analyses, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing modifications or upgrades to enhance equipment performance.
- Liaise with other colleagues and Workshop Manager to ensure the adequate inventory of spare parts and consumables required for maintenance activities. This includes maintaining adequate stock levels and identifying critical spare parts.
- Should accomplish as technical responsible of the workshop:
- Debug programs, previously created by the programmer.
- Debug progress tracking.
- Operate the benches and Pilot v8 for the faulty equipment and boards
- Conducting routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs until depot level (PCB and Components) without constant supervision.
- Train the Customer and different End-Users on radio maintenance and associated Thales equipment (SOTAS).
- Act decisively and autonomously to restore equipment and plant functionality in the event of equipment failures or emergencies.
- Execute preventive maintenance routines (PPMs) and review work order assignments.
- Observe, report, and rectify discrepancies in facilities and equipment independently.
- Ensure safety by identifying hazards and taking corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed records and logs related to equipment history and operations.
- Carry out regular electrical checks on calibration equipment to ensure equipment are working within set parameters.
- Complete daily work sheet and pass to Workshop Manager.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
The selected candidate benefits from training on the Maintenance Benches for a few months.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Experience working in a customer-facing role within the defense sector is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and coordinate with international stakeholders.
- Adopt a flexible approach to work to ensure the operational needs of the project are met.
QUALIFICATION & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in electronics and electrical engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Training experience in military environment.
- Certification IPC-7711 or 7721 and IPC-A-610 or 620.
- Certification IPC J-STD-001
PREFERRED SKILLS :
Essential criteria:
- Experiences in mobile probe testing, ideally Takaya, Insitu or Seica.
- Well understanding of the rules of OLM, ILM and DLM processes.
- Certification IPC-7711 or 7721 and IPC-A-610 or 620.
- An excellent knowledge of electronics / systems, as well as technology in general.
- Capable of reading and understanding electronic schematics.
Desirable criteria:
- Control and implementation of key process changes.
- Analytical analysis (& presentation) of technical repair data.
- High level Soldering skills (Silver / Gold) to enable soldering of varied surface mount components (0402, 0603, BGA, FPGA) etc – Training will be given
Languages:
- English is mandatory,
- French is a must,
- Arabic is a plus.

- Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.

HSE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take care of your own safety and the safety of others as far as is practicable.
- To be aware of, and play an active role in the development and implementation of the HSE Management System, project HSE requirements and Policy Statements.
- Understanding your personal responsibilities and contribute to achieving compliance with the HSE Management System requirements, understand the potential consequences of non-compliance to the HSE arrangements and commits to stated policies above;
- Comply with local laws and legislation regarding HSE.
- To use safety equipment (including PPE) as required and intended and observe that this is also enforced within their departments and among subcontractors and third parties working in Thales’s controlled premises/systems.
- Do not interfere with or change, adjust anything that is provided for safety unless fully trained to do so.
- Promote a good HSE culture within their departments and among their peers, subcontractors and third parties;
- Lead by example and actively encourage their departments to look at ways to conserve energy, water and resources and minimize the generation of waste through personal performance and raise recommendations on how to improve existing processes on this regard within/outside their departments.
- Conduct regular reviews on the HSE Management System Performance within their areas of responsibility and seek ways of continual improvement.
