Job Description
The Duty Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within the hotel. This role requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting technical issues, supervising the engineering team during shifts, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
Operational & Maintenance Duties:
- Monitor and oversee the daily operation of all MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on hotel equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Respond promptly to engineering requests from guests and other departments, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues efficiently.
- Maintain records of all maintenance activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Supervision & Team Management:
- Supervise a team of technicians and ensure all engineering tasks are completed as per the hotel's standards.
- Assign and oversee tasks for engineering staff during the shift.
- Conduct training and provide technical support to the engineering team.
- Ensure all team members adhere to safety procedures and hotel policies.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and hotel safety standards related to engineering operations.
- Maintain proper documentation of safety checks, inspections, and compliance reports.
- Respond to emergency situations such as power failures, leaks, and equipment breakdowns, ensuring guest and staff safety.
Additional Information
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in hotel engineering or a similar role.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
- Experience in preventive maintenance programs and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Previous experience in a luxury hospitality environment preferred.
- Ability to lead a team and manage tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
