Job Description
What you will be doing:
The Demi Chef de Partie – Baker will be a key member of the pastry kitchen, responsible for creating and presenting exceptional baked goods that reflect excellence and luxury. This role involves crafting high-quality breads, pastries, and other baked delicacies, ensuring top-notch taste, texture, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and produce a wide variety of baked goods, including bread, pastries, and healthy desserts, while maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene
- Develop, refine, and adapt recipes to ensure consistent quality, taste, and nutritional value, accommodating various dietary restrictions and allergen requirements
- Collaborate with the Pastry Chef to create innovative menu items and seasonal specials that complement our wellness offerings.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and assist in cost control for the bakery department
- Train and supervise commis in baking techniques and ensure timely preparation and delivery of baked goods for service
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement of our bakery offerings
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:
- Culinary degree or diploma with a focus on baking and 2-3 years of professional kitchen experience
- Proficiency in various baking techniques, equipment usage, and food safety standards (with relevant certification)
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Creativity and attention to detail in recipe development and presentation
- Knowledge of international baking trends
- Experience in creating health-conscious baked goods and managing dietary restrictions
- English proficiency is required
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
