Description
Job Overview:
The Crawler Crane Operator is responsible for operating a large mobile crane with tracks (crawler) that is used to lift and move materials in construction sites, shipping yards, or industrial areas. The operator ensures safety, efficiency, and accuracy in operating the crane while following project specifications, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Operate Crawler Cranes: Operate Crawler cranes to lift, move, and position materials according to project requirements.
· Ensure safe operation and proper handling of the crane to prevent accidents and damage.
· Adjust crane settings to match load weight, type, and height.
· Manipulate levers, pedals, and dials to control crane functions, following signals from riggers or workers on the ground.
· Load Handling: Inspect and secure loads properly, ensuring balance and alignment during lifting operations.
· Plan and calculate load weights and capacities for lifts.
· Secure loads properly using slings, shackles, and other rigging equipment.
· Monitor conditions such as wind speed and weather that could affect crane operation
· Site Coordination: Work closely with riggers, signaler’s, and ground personnel to ensure smooth and safe crane operations.
· Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on the crane equipment, identifying and addressing potential issues, and ensuring operational safety.
· Report any mechanical issues and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs.
· Keep the crane clean and in good operating condition
· Safety Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols and report any hazardous conditions or accidents immediately.
· Adhere to safety guidelines, regulations, and company policies always.
· Perform regular pre-operation inspections and maintenance checks of the crane and other equipment.
· Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow lock-out/tag-out procedures when required
· Ensure that the crane is safely positioned and that load paths are clear.
· Maintain a safe work environment by coordinating with other site workers
· Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of crane activities, including lift records and maintenance reports.
· Complete safety checklists and submit reports on time.
· Worksite Preparation: Assess site conditions to determine the safest crane positioning and establish load limits.
· Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards for crane operations in the Ras Laffan region, including those specified by oil and gas project guidelines.
· Communication: Coordinate with riggers, supervisors, and other team members on the job site. Use hand signals, radios, or other forms of communication to ensure smooth operations. Participate in site meetings and briefings as required..

Qualification & Requirements: ·
Crane Operator Certification: Valid Qatar Driving License (Crane) and additional certificate from an Authorized Authority

Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating mobile cranes, ideally in the oil and gas sector or large-scale industrial projects.
·
Education: Minimum High School graduate with technical certifications
·
Communication Proficiency: Good English communication skills
·
Knowledge of Safety Standards: Familiarity with international safety standards, especially those applicable to oil and gas environments (e.g., HSE, OSHA).
·
Physical Fitness: Must be physically capable of performing the job’s duties, including working in outdoor and demanding environments
. · Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
· Knowledge of crane operation principles, mechanics, and hydraulic systems.
· Familiarity with load charts and ability to assess crane capacity.
·
Communication Skills: Ability to understand and follow instructions from riggers, signaler’s’, and other team members.
·
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assess and address operational challenges efficiently.
·
Teamwork: Strong ability to work collaboratively with other workers on-site to ensure coordinated efforts .
