Duties and Responsibilities:
a) Carry out coating inspection surveys either simultaneously with mechanical inspection surveys or immediately after mechanical inspection surveys by mechanical inspectors (so that insulation, if removed for their inspections is not delayed in being put back). The surveys shall be presented in written format, and all will include detailed requirements for repainting after mechanical repairs, if any, are carried out, for re-insulation and for re-fireproofing as appropriate. These activities will require extremely close liaison with QatarEnergy inspectors. Inspector may also carry out surveys as directed by QatarEnergy REPRESENTATIVE or on his own initiative.
b) Carry out inspection for refurbishment works, inspecting coatings, insulation and fireproofing as these are applied to assure that the jobs are of the highest quality.
c) Carry out inspection for strictly adherence to QatarEnergy codes and standards, including those for quality, coating / painting / wrapping, insulation and fireproofing, and always using valid tag numbers when referring to equipment or piping.
d) Prepare detailed reports documenting all inspections, tests, and findings. Issue non-conformance reports for any deviations from specifications and track corrective actions. Maintain daily logs of inspection activities, including environmental conditions, observations, and communications. Ensure that all coating work adheres to project specifications, industry standards (e.g., SSPC, NACE), and manufacturer guidelines. Check and verify that coating materials are as specified and have not expired. Conduct surveys of plant equipment, structures, and piping to assess the condition of existing coatings. Prepare detailed reports with findings, photographs, and recommendations for maintenance, repair, or recoating.
e) Insulation: Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, documenting findings, test results, and corrective actions taken. Ensure that all insulation work complies with industry standards, client specifications, and project requirements. Verify that insulation materials and installation practices meet relevant safety and environmental regulations. Inspect insulation for any damage during installation or from external sources, such as mechanical impact or environmental exposure. Identify areas requiring repair and verify that repairs are performed correctly and effectively.
f) Ensure All inspections and related works practices meet relevant safety and environmental regulations.
RequirementsQualifications
a) Graduate or Diploma in Mechanical / chemical /civil Engineering from Reputed institute.
b) The candidate shall possess AMPP Certified Coating Inspector Level 2 / BGas CSWIP Gr. 2 or ICORR Level 2,
c)Minimum 8 years’ experience of which, a minimum of five (5) years as a painting/coating inspector in oil and gas, Refinery, or chemical plant. In addition to this, 3 years’ experience with painting contractor as a coating inspector or 3 years with coating/paint manufacturer in technical services.
d) He shall have the ability to pass QatarEnergy Permit Work System and Consolidated Permit to Work system.
