The Consultant in cardiology is responsible for the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care; effective and efficient diagnosing, managing and treating all patients placed under The View Hospital care. The Consultant makes recommendations, orders appropriate diagnostic tests and offers proper management plans as per the patient’s clinical condition.
Assesses and reassesses inpatients and/or outpatients on a regular basis, in line with approved clinical privileges and established best practice.
Refers patients to other appropriate specialties, as applicable, in accordance with approved clinical privileges, skills and training.
Actively participates in interdisciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe, and holistic care for cardiac patients.
Delivers high-quality, evidence-based care within cardiology services.
Conducts daily rounds on in-patients and participates periodically in department grand rounds, in line with established best practice.
Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required.
Provides clinical excellence by effective and efficient diagnoses, manages, and treats all patients placed under post holder’s care.
Delivers safe, effective, and holistic clinical services within accepted standards of care.
Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures.
Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
Liaises with colleagues, Allied Health staff, nursing, administrative and support services staff for additional input as required.
Complies with all hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices.
Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources.
Complies with the Medical Staff Bylaw, code of Medical Ethics and Rules and Regulations of the medical staff.
Demonstrates an active role in educating and fostering future academic leaders nationally and internationally through active participation in departmental educational initiatives.
Demonstrates an active interest and involvement in research by initiating innovative clinical or research outcomes or collaborating on research projects to support The View Hospital vision.
Keeps abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in cardiology field.
Performs other clinical duties and participates in emergency cases assessment and procedures as needed.
Western Board certified in Cardiology and eligible for Consultant License in the State of Qatar as per MoPH criteria (Essential) and at least 12 months duration from one of the Category 1 Western countries (Essential)
Strong Knowledge of the Healthcare system.
Solid knowledge and experience in cardiology services.
Previous exposure to and adequate experience of an Acute Care Facility (CCU/ICU/SICU, etc.)
Leadership experience in Cardiology (preferred.)
Comprehensive knowledge of Accreditation Process, with particular emphasis on JCI (and preferably in more than one facility.)
Demonstrated ability to work within a matrix organization integrating knowledge of, and respect for, functions and reporting lines of other departments.
High degree of self-organization, as well as highly successful communication, relationship, and engagement skills.
Minimum 3 years of experience in Specialty (required)
Minimum 1 years in GCC (preferred)
