Ensure that all technological aspects of managing QF’s digital archival repository are in place andoperational, including the process for ingesting archives
Ensure that QF’s digital archival repository conforms to the SIP (Submission Information Package), AIP(Archival Information Package), and DIP (Descriptive Information Package) methodology outlined in theOAIS standard (Open Archival Information System, AKA ISO 14721)
Ingest digital assets into provided systems ensuring proper workflows and adherence to archival standards,including OAIS ISO14721 and ISO16363:2012 (a recommended practice for assessing the trustworthinessof digital repositories)
Implement policies for digital content selection, accession, and appraisal
Implement digital preservation strategies including the migration, emulation, and risk management ofdigital media
Implement and maintain archival metadata standards to ensure the integrity of data within the digitalrepository
Oversee technical troubleshooting, Hardware & software upgrades, and system integrations
Manage the digital repository as an application within QF’s IT network infrastructure
Implement system security and data privacy standards to prevent unauthorized access or data loss
Participate in projects related to the digital repository
Provide reports on repository administration and performance
Provide training to team on the repository system as required
Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Management, Library Science, Archiving, or otherrelevant field; Master’s preferred. Demonstrable evidence of continuous learning in the field of informationmanagement
6-8 years of relevant full-time work experience, 2 of which at a supervisory level and preferably inArchiving
Specialist-level understanding of core archival principles: provenance & original order; metadata &descriptive standards; data management; ingest & accessioning; technical proficiency & problem solving
Specialist-level knowledge of arrangement, description, and preservation techniques for managing digitalarchives
Specialist skills in the management of digital archives, including the operation and management ofrepository systems to ensure compliance with relevant archival standards, specifically OAIS
Specialist skills in the application of archival metadata standards for digital archives
Demonstrated experience in implementing the ingestion, arrangement, and description of digital archivalrecords into a digital archival repository
Technical expertise in the management, preservation, and metadata management of digital archivalrecords
Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications andto articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage
