The Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences invites applications for a Trainee position to work on the Higher Education Commission sponsored project Ref No. 20-16914/NRPU/R&D/HEC/2021 2021) titled “Frequency of ten clinically significant genomic alterations, demographics, clinicopathological features and outcomes, in endocrine resistant hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer in Pakistan”. 

This is a short-term, grant-funded contractual position.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

• providing assistance to the Principal Investigator in planning, managing and conducting research project by determining theoretical aspects of problem and selecting method of approach
• recruitment of study subjects; collecting clinical samples from AKUH and other healthcare facilities
• conducting thorough literature search
• assisting in conducting experiments, devising instrumentation and techniques to record and collect test results
• data collection, tabulation, analysis and correlation of compiled research data and interpretation of results
• completing bench work and MPhil related thesis write-up and ensure its timely submission
• assisting the Principal Investigator in preparing write-ups, research manuscripts, presentations, mini-projects and grant proposals
• maintaining detailed records and prepare reports of MS/MPhil thesis project
• providing assistance to research students in setting up and conducting laboratory sessions.

Requirements

You should have:

• BSc (Hons)/MBBS/MSc in medical or biological sciences from any HEC recognized or foreign University 
• enrollment in MS/MPhil in Pharmacology/ Pathology/ Genetics/ Biotechnology/Biomedical Sciences Program in any HEC recognized University in Pakistan
• completed course work of MS/MPhil first year
• working knowledge and skills in laboratory techniques
• excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• the ability to participate and provide intellectual input to the assigned research project
• the drive to be result oriented and to meet deadlines.
