As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.

Job responsibilities

• Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
• Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
• Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
• Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software  Development Life Cycle
• Facilitate CARD platform modernization using technologies regarding cloud based microservice applications, event-based communication, and data at the edge with eventual consistency.
• Build scalable and resilient platform, services, and tooling to support all stages of platform lifecycle.
• Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in CARD Domain.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
• Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
• Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages in addition to Java (knowledge of other JVM languages such as Kotlin or Scala a plus). Hands-on experience of developing microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms. Experience in development/support of REST API interfaces (SpringBoot, gRPC, Swagger, Flask), SQL and No-SQL technologies.
• Strong architecture, analysis, design, coding, and code review skills. Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines. 
• Working proficiency of a variety of software engineering toolsets. Strong record of accomplishment of working on highly distributed systems. 
• Knowledge of software best practices like refactoring, clean code, domain driven design, encapsulation etc. Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture 
• Intensely curious about technology and continually grow in technical expertise over time. 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience with container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes. Understanding of hybrid cloud strategy and cloud computing technologies including Cloud Foundry, AWS (Amazon Web Services). hands-on experience of building distributed system with micro-services 
• Familiar with SQL and NoSQL (Cassandra preferred), Docker and Kubernetes 
• Familiar with event driven app architecture (Kafka preferred) and hands-on experience deploying and running workloads on AWS (preferably using EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service)) 
• Experience with other cloud platforms (Google, Azure) a plus.
