Introduction:
The Medical College (MC) was established in 1983, as a part of the Aga Khan University’s Faculty of Health Sciences in Pakistan. It attaches great emphasis to the professional, personal and intellectual development of faculty and students, so that its graduates become contributory members and leaders of society. The programmes offered by the Medical College are tailored to international standards in curriculum, student engagement and assessment, and aim to develop clinical competence in community settings and hospitals, as well as the assessment of health and prevention of disease in communities through primary health-care programmes.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, Strategy and Advancement, Dean’s Office Medical College, you will play a strong supporting role in the implementation of a high impact Academic Medical Center (AMC) model. You will also play a critical role in strategy workshops, development of strategic plans, and development of monitoring and evaluation frameworks. Additionally, you will be responsible for project management for strategic initiatives, and will support the Director, Strategy and Advancement.
You will be responsible for:
- supporting the implementation of a five- year, health sciences, strategic plan
- co-leading the development and implementation of the AMC's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the overall mission and vision. Conduct research, analyze data, and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify strategic priorities and goals
- establishing performance metrics and benchmarks to assess the effectiveness of strategic initiatives. Monitor and evaluate progress towards established goals and objectives, and provide regular reports to senior leadership
- conducting comprehensive market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and potential opportunities for growth. Stay abreast of developments in higher education and related fields to inform strategic decision-making
- overseeing strategic projects and initiatives, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of initiatives across education, research, communications, resource development, partnerships, and alumni engagement
- working with the finance team on budgeting and costing of the plan and other support teams for operationalising the plan
- contributing in writing all strategic papers
- supporting senior leadership in strategic decision making and implementation
- fostering effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and AKDN agencies. Collaborate with various departments to ensure alignment of strategic objectives and facilitate cross-functional collaboration
- supporting the implementation of change initiatives by providing guidance and support to relevant stakeholders
- identifying potential risks and challenges associated with strategic projects and develop mitigation strategies
- preparing and delivering presentations to senior leadership and key stakeholders, effectively communicating strategic plans, progress updates, and recommendations. Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation to support decision-making processes
- monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented strategies and recommend adjustments as needed
- identifying areas for improvement and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices in strategic management
- designing, implementation and management of special projects at the MC.
Requirements:
You must have:
- a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field in Healthcare, Business, Policy, Social Development from a well reputed local or international university, Master's degree is preferred
- three to four years of related work experience at a reputable and relevant organisation (e.g., strategy consultancy, local or international NGO, multinational company, multi/bilateral organisation etc.) or as a research assistant. Experience in the health and/or development sector is preferred
- proven experience in strategic planning and project management, preferably in the education/healthcare sector
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data to drive decision- making
- excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to diverse audiences
- the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- strong analytical thinking and data analysis skills
- experience with developing and understanding budgets and finances
- experience with design and development of strategic frameworks; monitoring and evaluation is a plus
- experience with project management is preferred
- excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- demonstrated interest in healthcare and/or social development challenges.
