Senior Research Coordinator, Paediatrics & Child Health - MC

Introduction

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include to:

•  ensure implementation of Lab protocols and timely reporting to lab manager.
• supervise and monitor timely results entry an reporting.
• compliance of local and international visits and audits. Participation.
• logging of samples once delivered from the field site
• collection of samples from field site and logging all the required information
• monitor and report protocol deviation
• develop SoPs and manual of operation for study activities.
• provide training to the study staff as per the protocols and guidelines of study
• provided supervision and direction to ensure smooth operations of research laboratory for the project under the supervision of the project lea
•  prepare specifications and justifications, and participate in the procurement of laboratory Consumables and reagents
• oversee the shipping of project samples to outside Country for further testing as per the Granting agencies requirement.
• ensure the completeness, proper filings, and archiving of the CRFs;
• develop and implement QA QC plan with documentation and reporting any deviation to lab manager.
• responsible for monitoring specimen processing, instrument maintenance, and maintaining External Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QA/QC) with the Reference laboratories outside the country.
• ensure that QA/QC Records of all Lab Assays are maintained properly 

Requirements: 

You should have:

•         A Master’s degree in Science/ M. Phil (Biosciences) or equivalent qualifications, preferably with additional certification or equivalent
•         At least 02 years of experience, preferably in Assay Performance, Knowledge of New Lab techniques, Paper writing
•         Knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices, and methods.
•         Computer literacy and strong mathematical, analytical, and research skills.
•         Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
•         Willing to travel and work in the communities/ rural field sites
•         Integrity and strong research ethics
•         Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu
•         Strong computer skills
