About the role
Looking for an immediate, short-term hire (2 months, contractual) to support the delivery of a prospective scoping study for an international client, aimed at informing areas concerning multi-sectoral structural transformation within multiple economic regions of Pakistan. The study is aimed at understanding contributions across an established criteria from within multiple value-chains from the agriculture, manufacturing and trade sectors. The research assistant shall be responsible for the following:
Conducting an extensive literature review, and providing an analysis of 10 sectors based on the provided criterion on investment potential, economic viability, and financial contributions
Assisting the sector experts in drafting a project inception report, including a snapshot analysis of the sub-sector shortlisting exercise above
Support in conducting a macro-level policy analysis through secondary and primary research (FGDs)
Supporting research leads in the designing of IDIs, FGDs and Survey Tools
Designing a stakeholder engagement matrix, including identification of key individuals to form part of survey population
Assisting in the delivery of FGDs, IDIs and Surveys with relevant stakeholders
Conducting a transcription of all FGDs and IDIs
Leading the analysis of data (quantitative and qualitative) collected from FGDs, IDIs and Surveys, including drafting reports (based on findings) for the same
Drafting actionable insights (including list of recommendations) based on established criteria for relevant sub-sector
Academic background in Economics/Statistics or relevant field.
2+ years of relevant sector experience (investment, financing, economic development, agribusiness etc.)
3+ years of experience in qualitative and quantitative research design and implementation
Well-versed in statistical analysis (including tools such as SPSS, and STATA), and prior experience in analysing large datasets
Demonstrated experience with designing, and executing FGDs, IDIs and Surveys, and conducting a thorough analysis of the same
Prior experience working with senior government stakeholders across the provincial and federal government
Excellent written English and fluent spoken English
Ability to communicate with impact verbally and in writing (e.g. prior experience in designing client reports)
Excellent level of numeracy (e.g. ability to use Excel at an intermediate level)
Prior experience working on FCDO, EU and/or USAID funded programming will be preferred.
