Aga Khan University invites applications for a full-time position of Research Associate in the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences.  

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

• planning, organizing and conducting histology laboratory teaching sessions for undergraduate medical and graduate (MPhil and PhD) students, as well as assisting faculty in planning and organizing lab teaching for graduate (MPhil and PhD) students 
• raising PRs and MSRs for teaching and research supplies and consumables, liaising with Purchasing and AKU Warehouse departments to ensure timely delivery of the requested items and keeping track of records
• assisting faculty in research: conducting experiments, analyzing data and interpreting results
• supporting the development of central stock inventory and establishment of central store, including ordering and follow-up
• assisting in write-ups, manuscripts, research reports, presentations, research applications and abstracts for publications and grant funding
• preparing and assembling all standard operating procedures for BBS lab functions
• engaging in professional development activities such as lab training and attending departmental research and academic forums to keep abreast with current trends and practices.

Requirements

You should have:

• a graduate degree (MSc) in Biotechnology or a relevant field
• at least 2 years of work experience related to research and teaching
• experience in common biochemical, molecular biology, histology and tissue culture experimental techniques
• excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• the ability to multi-task several projects and work in fast paced environment 
• proven ability to work well with certain degree of autonomy and function successfully in a team environment
• proficiency in MS Office.
